update not taking
Any of you experience a situation where every time you turn the truck off, you get the message that an update has been downloaded and is ready to install - and every time you try to get it to install, it doesn't seem to take because you get the exact same message next time you drive it? How did you resolve other than taking to dealer?

I had the same problem. It was mentioned in this forum that you need to have your battery at maximum full capacity. My battery acted normal and just could not believe my battery was the issue. Sure enough i hooked up my battery to a charger over night and the next morning all updates installed. I was wrong in my assumption that my battery was topped off and ready.
Both of you try the battery charger thing and report back on your findings.

im just SOL
GavinC,
I was not using a trickle charger. I was using a 25amp regular charger. it might not make any difference and i left it on the battery over night. like I said it might not even be the solution but try it as you are a good tester. It is interesting that your update install also disappeared and never installed. mine downloaded but just did not want to install.

My wife's Defender has this "software upgrade downloaded but will not install" problem since she has a 5 minute commute to work. I need to swap vehicles with her one day and charge up her battery. Or maybe I'll try connecting a battery jumper charger to her battery and see if that works. The same update downloaded and installed immediately on my Defender.
Ditto. Got the notification that an update was ready to install, but it vanished, never to appear or update since. Trip to the dealer seems to be next.
Tried again after driving around for a bit to charge the battery up some more and finally got it to update. Yup pushing the lock button twice on my car remote to activate the alarm (first push flashes the lights and folds in the side mirrors, second push has the car give a little horn toot) and parking it outside so there was a solid 4G connection did the trick.
So my secret sauce to make it work:
-Create a working inControl account and log into it on the vehicle. A software update showed up for me within a couple of days.
-Make sure the battery has a good level of charge.
-Park where your vehicle gets a solid 4G connection.
-Close your windows and sunroof, double lock the vehicle via the remote's lock button so that the alarm is engaged.
Give it about 35-40 minutes w/o unlocking any doors once you've started the process.
Hope that works for you.
