Default Updated MPG for 2024

Did anyone else catch this? It looks like the EPA figures have been revised for 2024. It’s a pretty significant change for the P400… I wonder why? I would assume these new numbers are more realistic? The 23 mpg highway was definitely attractive to me when I was shopping for my 110 X-Dynamic SE. Oh well…. I take delivery next month.

22 mpg is my realistic highway mileage and I'm sure I could get to 23 if I drove slower or used sport mode less when passing the occasional idiot crawling along in the left lane.

I got 14 today on a 600 mile road trip.

I guess that speaks to how I drive, roof racks, and larger tires.

Good point, I'm down to 18 mpg or so with bikes or a ski box on the roof.

I’ve been super impressed with MPG on my P300. It’s improved considerably since new (2023 with 11k miles). My last highway trip was averaging 20mpg with roof rack and I can do 20mpg around town most weeks. I suspect without roof rack I could get into low to mid 20’s on the highway but the roof rack is definitely an anchor.

It totally depends on the tires you have, options installed - especially exterior packs and roof racks etc. Put on the city slicker tires with max pressure and I'm sure most of us could get close to 23mpg.

I have no external accessories at all in my P400. The only mod I have are lift rods and 275/65/20 KO2s and I barely hit 19mpg combined when commuting. When travelling at 70plus speeds, 18mpg is heaven - when I can get that.

Now, can someone explain to me what's up with the trip trip journey in the Remote app? It usually shows me unreal mpgs and calls it "Efficiency". It goes like - 26mpgs or something, which I am positive these cars won't get at all - not even driving bone stock at 55mph in straight flat and no wind.

Lifts will reduce mileage, as will not using the eco mode which I forgot to mention. If you put the Defender in pure stock mode with arguably poor offroad tires and run in eco mode I think their numbers aren't too far off. That said, I average 18-19 on the hwy at 80mph. Not great...

From past experiences swapping out OEM tires and wheels to a more beefy AT tire is the number one cause of poor MPG and sluggishness. Coming from multiple 4Rs and GX460s the tire weight is something I really take into consideration before putting them on. Looks like the OEM 20" tire for the Defender comes in at around 34lbs vs the KO2s in your size is 57lbs. That's a pretty big unsprung weight difference that no doubt is impacting performance and MPGs. But... they look great and if you are going hard trail riding they are a much better choice. Pros and cons... like anything out there.

@mrego Last month I did a 1200 mile camping road trip in Oregon and my averaging what my app said came to around 19mpg and I was loaded with an awning, bike, boxes on top. On a 40 mile stretch it said I avg 25 mpg which I laughed and then really have to question the accuracy of the "efficiency" numbers.
