I saw a V8 Defender drive by me today with a snorkel. Isn't this relatively pointless since the V8 has intakes on both sides? I was shaking my head guessing that it was a dealer install and markup since it still had dealer plates on it and the guy probably had no idea.
I was thinking the only positive might be half clean air but then again on a V8 wouldn't you want as little air restriction as possible?
Wow. An actual JLR dealer installs a single RAI on a v8. So bad.
JLR should hit them w a service bulletin warning them against this fitment.
It’s quite sad that they’re just using it as an excuse to justify an increase price for the truck … but in doing so they throw out any concept of product knowledge or vehicle engineering.
Here’s the sticker for my vehicle where it shows it came from the factory with it. The dealer said the first owner had them take it off and I’m glad he did. Another weird add-on that I don’t remember seeing as an available option: the smokers pack lol
Some of those are dealer install. RAI, dealer hand over (fancy box with keys), and protection pack are dealer items. Front under-shield is, or at least used to be, a port installation.
RAI on any trim, to the best of my knowledge, is not a factory item. Like most bolt on stuff, it's a dealer item that they can use to squeeze a few more $$$ in labor costs from the buyer.
