According to JLR, the P400 is 1.2 seconds faster to 0-60 than the P300 and the P525 is 0.7 seconds faster than the P400.

C&D tested the V8 at 4.4 seconds and the P400 at 6.3.

My real goal for the car is for long distance road trips through any type of weather such as snow or and heavy rain without problems.

I had a 2013 Cayenne GTS that was great on the road and prior models could be ordered with off road abilities such as locking diff but the new Cayennes do not have much in the way of off road abilities. My thought is that the V8 Defender will lose some off road ability compared to the P400 model but will be better as a road car on the highway and secondary roads with more power, revised roll bars and suspension change. The ability to climb up mountains and passing will be much better.

Porsche and Ford offer corporate extended warranties that you can buy at time of purchase of the vehicle. It allows the warranty to be extended to 6 or 7 years. Just wondered if LR had a program like this? I do not like the 3rd party programs for many reasons but had good luck with the manufacturer programs.

Please share your thoughts on the new V8.

Thank you
Based on your comments, I think the V8 is a good choice for you. You can easily make it more suitable for off-road with a wheels swap but you can’t easily swap the i6 to a V8. My guess is that you may have buyers remorse later if you didn’t get the V8.

Motortrend got 4.6 seconds with a 2023 P400 but that doesn’t make me believe there’s only a 0.2 second difference between the i6 and the V8. Which is why I go by the manufacturer’s rating as a base.

He’s referring to the fact that BMW over the last several years has under rated the hp of their motors, especially in the M’s.

"It is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and propelled the 5,655-pound 2023 Land Rover Defender 110 from 0-60-mph in an impressive 4.6 seconds. Running through our quarter-mile test required just 13.1 seconds at 107.7 mph. By contrast, the 3.0-liter I-6 powered Defender 110 sprinted to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds and completed the quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds at 92.0 mph." That's directly from motortrend. Not sure where your numbers. Manufacturer numbers are notoriously off.

They are notoriously slow, yes, but they are usually consistently slow, so the delta between two products of the same manufacturer is usually reliable, which is what is being discussed here. Also, manufacturers' numbers are usually more reflective of what you and I will get if we drive our own vehicle; 3rd party testers using press cars will dump the clutch or sidestep the brake pedal at 7000 rpm if it gets them the best ET.

LOL, that second part is going to be hard to do without also doing the first part!

Congrats! I went down to 20's with AT tires and I'm really happy with the setup. Not as quiet as the factory's but still worth it imho.
