Default V8 HP downgrade :/

Hello guys,

I have ordered the defender v8 and it seems that jlr has reduced the hp of the Defender V8, which now has only 425 compared to the previous V8 of 525.

It seems that now you can add the roof rails, not like before.

What do you think of this change? Do you know if they have changed the engine or have they just reduced the power of the same engine?

Could it be chipped?

I take it you're ordering a 2025 V8, correct? Where did you see this? Did they discontinue the P500 in the SE Trim?

We have a build date for this Friday 16 Aug 2024 for a Defender 110 525PS which is rated US HP518.
Just checked the web site for 2025 configurator, still shows 518HP
Curious where you got your info, I'm hoping your incorrect as I dont want it with 425HP

Interesting…do you have the order guide you used to order?

There’s a P500 and a P525 in the online configurator, 495/518 HP

Hello guys,

It seems that since the Octa came out they have reduced the HP of the V8 model, at least here in Europe and it now has the following specifications:
5.0 liter V8 supercharged petrol engine 313 kW (425 HP) (automatic transmission) and all-wheel drive, you can check one example here: https://build.landrover/A2DB4567

5.0 liter V8 supercharged gasoline engine 313 kW (425 HP) (automatic transmission) and all-wheel drive

SEE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
191 ‡
Maximum speed km/h
5.8
Acceleration (seconds) 0-100 km/h
328 ††
CO₂ emissions according to WLTP (g/km)
14.5 ††
Fuel consumption according to WLTP (l/100km)

I think it is probably the same motor but with reduced HP, but Im not sure… what do you guys think? I already ordered one and this hp reduce made me angry…

In several EU markets the Defender 110 P400 (I6) has been replaced by the P425 (V8). The Defender 90 is still available as a P525. The trim on the P425 is also different than on the P525. This happened about a month ago.
It all has to do with overall fleet emissions that have to be met in order to comply with EU regulations. Same goes for the D350 which is not available in some of the EU markets.

This also means that there is no Dynamic mode on the P425. It is also fitted with the standard anti-roll bars.
