V8 models running in period
Question for those that has bought a brand new V8 model. Have you adhered to the running-in recommendations? No kick-down acceleration, no high revs when cold, running on high gear at low speeds etc for 3000kms (1900miles).
Im guessing a lot of customers do not care about that.
I have been driving like an old lady but am having trouble with my new 130 V8 and the dealer is trying to blame the running in period. They already had to change the fuel rail pressure sensor and some other crankshaft sensor. Now it still jerks a bit when changing gear under slight load. They said not to use Dynamic mode for the full running in period but that is not what the protocol say. Needless to say I am pissed off.
Anyone else had jerky gearchanges?

Have had my 2024 V8 110 for 4 months with zero issues, before that 5 LR V8’s also with no problems. If you took it easy per the recommendations then your dealer is talking bs, and they need to fix it - good luck let us know how it work out.
Engine break-ins are no longer necessary. Engine manufacturing processes have drastically improved even in the past ten years. Piston rings, cylinder wall liner and gasket tech has also improved. Some manufacturers recommend break-ins, some don't. I usually just drive the car as I normally would from the get-go.
Also, sensors wouldn't be going bad because "you weren't following the break-in protocol." Utter nonsense. Sensors are electronic, and electronics aren't something that would ever need to be broken in.

Thanks for your input.
To clarify I am still in the recommended breaking-in period. Car has run about 700km out of the 3000km recommended. Problems started immediately after delivery and was engine related. Turned out the two sensors were broken or something so the engine didn't get fuel. Then there was hard shuddering when shifting gear under slight load.
I had it for 4 days. Dealer had it back for 2 weeks and I just got it back yesterday. Drove today in Dynamic mode and three shifts were unusually jerky. Told the dealer which recommended me not to use Dynamic during break-in. Which I called bull**** on.
To be fair there is a section in the manual regarding break-in which the dealer pointed out on delivery. My salesperson hadn't sold a V8 (nobody buys them here. Taxes....) so she was really adamant about the whole thing.
I have not done any breaking in since my BMW E46 M3 around 2002 despite having had sporty cars since then. So was a bit surprised at the whole thing. Its not like anything you do during the break-in of this engine is going to cause damage relevant to what I am experiencing if at all.
Really pissed off about the whole thing.

I wouldn’t worry about the breakin period so much as making sure the car is fully warmed up before you get on it and letting it cool down before you stop (i.e. don’t flog it and then shut it down right away, let the turbos and things settle a bit first).
Even with all the Nanny’s they have these days it really surprises me that they don’t limit full power until the car has warmed up properly.
