Default V8 stock tires off-road?

Hi all, I am debating driving on some easy trails in Joshua tree with my 110 V8 on the stock 22” continentals. For anyone familiar with the area, I’m thinking of doing the berdoo canyon rd and the geology tour rd. I watched a YouTube video and it seems like they are fairly easy trails, although there are a few decent rocky obstacles along the way. I was wondering if this would be a bad idea with the stock street tires? Last thing I’d want to do is pop a tire or get stuck in the desert.

as you all can probably tell, I’m a complete noob when it comes to off-roading. What do you guys think?

You’re going to have fun! Geology tour road can be done quite easily in most any vehicle, no problems there.

Berdoo is more challenging, but also very doable with your setup. Caveat - I ran this trail a couple of years ago, before you rely on this confirm it hasn’t been washed out, as hurricane Hilary hit that area with a lot of moisture. OnX Offroad app is a good source of current trail info.

Recommend you DO NOT air down your tires with the 22s, just go slow and steady on street pressures and let the computers do the work.

have fun. Both trails get a decent amount of traffic so good beginner trails.

Did you end up taking this trip and using the OEM 22s? If yes, how was it?
