Default 2022 Defender 90 Journal

Ok I ordered the 90 in July and I am supposed to pick it up just after the new year. My STi is in hibernation now at the in-law's house in Lincoln, Nebraska.

It seems like I have been waiting forever. I am an impatient, spoiled modern man I guess. No better than the rest.

So I started this thread to remind myself later what it was like. I have only bought one other new car before. I have never ordered one just the way I wanted it so this is special.

I have been enjoying reading every thread on here so thanks for all the posts. And if I stepped on anyone's toes being critical over selling their cars to Carmax etc for a profit, I apologize. I still have shell shock from the days of owning an air cooled 911 and witnessing the forum talk turn increasingly towards the value of 911s and away from enthusiast concerns.

The STi all tucked in!!

I love STi's but prefers my evolution IX MR. It must be beautiful to be covered like that.

Oh, it is not really that special. Haha. I did a lot of work modifying it and plan to perhaps sell it so I want to keep it in good shape until spring.

Good lord that Generation of WRX is UGLY. The pictures of it covered are waaaaay better. The proportions lust look all off. Lowering it makes the already tiny wheels look even more out of place. I know they have their appeal and something of a cult following but there is no way I would want to look at that every day. Congrats on the Defender 90 and good luck with it.

Thanks for the opinion.

I do not think it ugly -- just extremely active visually. It is very rounded AND has angular features -- and the air scoop -- and of course that wing. A lot going on. And of course the "chase me please Mr./ Miss policeman" red color.

Just showed it to my wife -- she said a very non positive word about the wing. Not an air scoop person either, it seems.

I too owned drove a 914 many decades ago (a red one) -- wishing it was a 911, and appreciating that it was little more than a go-cart on wheels with Beetle sound effects. Great fun !!

Enjoy !

What you think is fine. It is not your car. I do not drive it to please you or your wife.

I drove one before and love the sound of the boxer engine. Love the blue WRC graphics with the bench chair with slats spoiler. I wanted to buy a S209 to replace my wrecked evolution IXMR but there was limited availability. Bought a 720s and a C8 instead.

Yeah, the S209 is about as far as Subaru could take the VA STi without creating a whole new car. The handling is supposed to be where it shines. I have not driven one yet, but I hope to some day.
