Default What did you convert from to buy a 2020 Defender?

With the increase in Defender sales, it's clear that not every new owner is your classic Land Rover tragic. Converts are coming from other makes - Jeep, BMW maybe even Toyota. 🤔 By the type of questions posed on the forum of late, I would guess the brand is attracting more former BMW type owners rather than Jeeps or Toyotas, but I am curious - what was the last car you owned before you bought your Defender?

NB: If your vehicle make is not listed, consider if it is part of the group (ie. Volkswagen includes Audi, Bentley, Cupra, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat, Skoda. Toyota includes Lexus etc) and if it is an SUV or 4WD. If it is not on the extended list or you are coming from a different style of vehicle just put the make down as a separate post in this thread.
Unfortunately the poll options can not be edited once initially posted.

I had a 2013 BMW X5 V8. I loved it and seriously considered replacing with an X5M, but the newer exterior design just did not entice me. I really dislike what BMW is doing to the front and rear fascia of their vehicles. I’m only 3 months in but hope that the Defender 110 V8 is half as reliable as my old car. If it is, they may have a repeat customer. If it isn’t, I have no idea what I’d replace it with at this point as everything else in its class is either cheaply made or too common.

Came from a ‘17 Ford Raptor farkled with ADD front rear bumpers with Baja Designs lights. I love my Defender but I miss the utility of a bed. The Defender is almost too pretty.

I clicked Jeep because I sold my heavily modded and much-off-roaded Wrangler to a friend when I ordered my 2022 P400. But I also have other vehicles from MB, Porsche and GMC at present.

2022 BMW X5M50i I didn’t like it at all. Too much motor for the bones IMO. Previous X3M and X5M owner. Both were amazing.

My V8 defender is my favorite vehicle of all time however. So far.

My last was a 2017 X3. I liked the car, but I previously owned a few Jeeps: Grand Cherokee, TJ, and an ‘86 Cherokee that was as bare bones as you could get (no AC, no carpet, 4 speed manual).

I enjoy heading off road when I can, but I also need to be able to hear cell phone calls when I’m at highway speed. The TJ failed that test. The GC passed. (Cell phones were only for the rich and powerful when I had the XJ).

A little over 3,000 miles on my 110S P300 and no issues at all. Serious off-roading once in November; I’ll get back out there in the spring. I’m happy.

My previous vehicle was actually a 2017 Ford Escape. It's quite a change, though I had reserved a Bronco (Badlands with leather and lux package, no sasquatch). The hard top Bronco delays and posts on the Bronco forum introduced me to the Defender, which I test drove on a lark... and ended up loving. Decided to ditch the Bronco order.

No regrets!

the question is misleading since I did not convert to a defender because I have 7 other vehicles and wanted to add the defender to the stable.

Going from a loaded up '19 Sahara JLU to a Defender 110 SE....Jeep has custom napa leather and a great set of Fuel wheels. Jeep is great incase it snows and we just have to get that loaf of bread and gallon of milk before the roads close....Yes, we are those Jeep owners. It is my wifes DD as the Defender will be. As someone posted above, in our opinion, everything else in the market today is either too plain, boring, junk or just too expensive. We honestly considered a Rubi 392 and the Defender. Thats it. I just could not get my arms around $85k for a Wrangler!

I had a Volvo XC90 but it could barely tow our trailer so I got a defender. Best thing I have ever done. I love this thing.
