I checked VW because you didn't have an Audi option. The Audi Q5 was always a placeholder because I knew the Defender was in the pipeline, but I needed a new vehicle when I moved away from NYC after having been car-free for 12 years. I saw the DC100 concept and knew it would be a good thing to wait for.
I've wanted a Defender / Series since I was five growing up in the UK. Almost bought a NA D90 new in 1996 and regretted missing that opportunity. Had considered a landcruiser - in fact the Toyota was the only thing I cross shopped before ordering the Defender 110.
I have enough seat time in series land rovers and Defenders in the UK, Australia, and NZ to know that an imported "classic" Defender was never going to work for me despite loving the way they look.

Well.....l swapped out my 2005 Defender for the new one.
l thought about it for months. At over 200,000km my Defender was starting to lose value and the U.K. govt currently has a great tax incentive to buy a new Defender Commercial if you are a LTD company
l am still in two minds but probably won't go back to the old one now. The dealer has offered to swap back with approximately $8,000 sweetener
But it's not about the money, it's about which vehicle works best going forward in my business

Volkswagen group includes Audi, Bentley, Cupra, Lamborghini, Porsche, Seat, Skoda...put Porsche under VW. There are a maximum of 10 options possible on a poll. It's very interesting to see what make of vehicle someone was driving before a Defender because I think it shapes their expectations. My assumption was most converts previously owned an SUV or 4WD so the brands selected have popular models in these categories. I guess rightly or wrongly, the Defender also appeals to some sports car lovers.
