What a hassle, but worth it
Purchased my 2021 Defender, turned into a 2022. Which I was fine with. As it got closer, that’s when the dealership started the fun games.
“Has anyone talked to you about adjusted market pricing? These now sell for $30,000 over MSRP”. I happened to have a signed order (by them) on my phone for no ADM. so they conceded defeat.
Then when I went in to go finance (they were good to work with me in signing a week before it arrived since I was deploying 2 days before it arrived) they told me “we can’t sell to you unless you have a trade in. Product out product in. If we sell this to you without a trade in we have nothing else to sell”
I responded that I had no vehicle to sell. They responded “well go buy one and trade it in”.
With them knowing full well it would arrive after I left, they said I can’t finance before it gets in, they may sell it before I return.
So I spoke with the GM and “in appreciation of your service” they waived their current stipulations.
So finally it arrived, and during my FaceTime inspection with my wife at the dealership, we noticed a great deal missing. Took me a second to notice since I was floored by how awesome it looked.
it arrived missing the lunchbox, ladder, cross bars, off-road tires, and activity key.
the activity key I expected to not be there from other posts on here. So that made sense and I was really just hoping for the best.
the other items were on my build sheet, and in the price financed. Spoke with the GM and they said if we don’t like it they can cancel the sale and sell it to someone else. His response was “at least you have a vehicle, most people don’t even have that, and at least it’s 98% of what you ordered”.
So I asked about getting the additional parts delivered at a later date “we can sell them to you at cost”. Even though it was on the build sheet and in the amount financed.
I was so concerned about them canceling the sale that I thanked them for screwing me over so gently, and took it as an additional $2-4k ADM markup fee.
Regardless, I love the look. Can’t wait to actually get home to see it.
2022 110 X Dynamic SE, carpathian grey, extended black pack, HUD (which surprised me given the situation), off-road pack, towing pack, comfort and cold packs, 11.4” screen, ebony/ebony interior, etc.
in the end it’s another dealer screw report, but totally worth it.
But this forum has been a wealth of information for me.
Update:
dealer made it right, they will swap tires and have adjusted the price financed accordingly to reflect the decrease.
fits with why I posted, what a hassle, but worth it. Things (at least in my perception) seem to have changed greatly in the 20 years since I bought a new vehicle. Now the issue is keeping it in good order until I get home…

it was all resolved to my satisfaction, as I said the dealer made it right. And they were working in good faith etc.
it wasn’t a post about seeking help or anything. Just saying what a hassle but totally worth it. Although I appreciate the support in that regard.
things such as tires, etc, merely lost in translation in the +9 months or so of the build, etc.

Life's short. It's a great truck and I hope you enjoy it as much as I love mine.
Thanks for your service.

And after I contact corporate and get a written response.
I mean it’s hard to be truly mad, I’m just ecstatic that it finally exists.

Already the plan. I got a shady “vibe” from them almost as soon as the order was placed. The salesman showed me the order sheet and openly bragged about charging $50,000 over MSRP to a 110 V8 order.

From my experiences with JLR "customer service", don't expect much. I have no idea why you would accept equipment or options on the window sticker and in the financing but not receive them. You should have simply told them to back that amount of money out of the deal.
Also, the pictures of that truck you posted has the off-road tire option ($350 Goodyear Adventurer). Did you specify the dealer-installed JLR approved Goodyear Duratracs?
Have to add, there are no "baby steps" to remedy a situation like this. The dealer screwed you and effectively made you pay over $2K ADM. They played on your fears of not being able to get a vehicle and you caved. I have unique insight into your situation as I used to be in the luxury car business (Porsche) and I am now in the military. You should've told them to pound the truck up their ***. How long is your deployment? Supply chain issues may well be worked out by the time it is over.
