What is the Single, Simple Change You'd Like to See on Defender?
#121
OK... Let's see...
1. Auto-stop/start engine button. I just want to turn it off and have it STAY OFF. Autostop Eliminator has an AWESOME product to do just that, but just not for the LR's yet.
2. If I get out of the Defender to run into the bank, post office, Liquor Store (don't judge) and I leave my wife in the car, when I get back she has to unbuckle and lean over to the driver's door to unlock the damn thing and let me back in. What the hell is that???
3. Made my 2nd payment this month. Already looking for a Windshield replacement company. I think it got broken by hitting a butterfly.
4. When I bought it, I moved 4 boxes of stuff out of my Ford Expedition. I think I finally found room for a flashlight in my Defender 130. Of course I had to throw out the jack...
5. Ever heard of an Oil Life Indicator??? I'm mean, I only paid $100K, why would I expect THAT?
6. Did I mention there is no storage space?
7. How come I don't have a place for my sunglasses? I guess they figured I needed a nice shiny piece of black plastic instead.
8. I used to be able to Open and Close the rear hatch on my Expedition to let the Grocery guy put stuff in. Oh well...
9. LR: "We built the most capable off road vehicle on the market" Also LR: "lets put on 22" racing slicks" Last week, I gut stuck... In wet grass.
10. Am I the only one who sometimes spends 2 minutes ARGUING with the shifter just to go from "R" to "D"? Just me??? OK.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE so much about this vehicle, but there's a lot of "little stuff" they could have done a LOT better, for not much $$$.
LRJ just needs to start thinking like a consumer who is going to buy a Defender 130 and use it with 3 kids and a dog in it.

My ideal Defender build needs a solid roof! JLR offers solid roofs in other markets, but stopped selling solid roofs in the US. Given we already have Wrangler and Bronco, a ND, already a stand out in so many ways, was an even bigger stand out with a solid roof. A glass roof ND is like every other SUV out there - it's no longer special because glass on top is ubiquitous. You wouldn't have thought a solid, strong, weight supporting roof feature would be inaccessible on a luxury SUV build, but it is...
the other fantasy I'm holding out for is 18" rims and larger wheel arches as a precaution against an unexpected pothole. I don't need those last two, but I won't be ordering ND until they offer again a roof.

On another note, I have a non sunroof with 18 inch wheels showing up next month with no mark up. It is up for sale in conjunction with a Sarek stage build if you are interested

We work closely with a Land Rover dealership. They order new d90 and D110 to our specs . These trucks are purpose built . The client purchases the truck from the dealer and can do all of the paperwork remotely. They can also roll some of the cost of the Sarek Stages into the financing if requested. The truck gets transported to Sarek and the work begins.
Stage 1 (eventually will be dealer installed) is our Gen 2 bumper with a Warn winch. Our 2 inch coil spring lift and proper AT or MT tires.
Stage 2 adds our rock sliders, tub sliders, rear bumper with exhaust,, bull bar, roof rack and proper limb risers.
Stage 3 adds our full under armor kit (engine, transmission, tcase, and fuel tank skids) with our diff guard and a arm sliders. Also it will add our exclusive selectable arb rear locker (almost completed) and our tubular subframes which will have 2 and 3 inches of lift built in. (In development).
The client can choose to fly to us and take delivery or we have the vehicle transported to them.
