It's designed that way so you can see the ball on your hitch and hook up a trailer easily.

My $0.02:
  • Modify the Pivi software so that it doesn't hijack your phone calls when you unlock the car and open the door. Often I'm on the phone while loading up the car to go to the store, take kids out, etc -- so I don't always jump in the car and start it up. This means that when I unlock the car and open the door, my phone is all of a sudden routing the call audio to... nowhere. Because the car is still "off" (as much as any modern car can be said to be turned off these days), the radio is off. Because the radio is off, the call goes to.... LR HQ? I have no idea. Some software engineer probably thought this was a great idea for speeding up the transition to the car bluetooth, but didn't think about the edge case of someone who wants to be able to access their car without driving it while also talking on the phone.
  • Make the cargo area bigger. Yeah, I get it -- you gotta give up some function for form.. but this issue makes me miss the LR3.
  • Toughen up the trim in the cargo area. If you actually use the trunk for anything more than soft luggage, you're going to scratch the hell out of the plastic back there, and possibly the paint on the door as well, unless you are extremely careful, and essentially line the cargo area yourself with blankets/etc. I'm not talking about the floor -- that's pretty tough, if slippery, it's the sides.
  • Find some other way to fasten the OEM roof rails that doesn't force you to risk breaking your roof if you want to replace the rails with a permanently installed rack (or delete the rails, for that matter). Plenty has been written about this.
  • Put Latch connectors on the middle seat in the second row. Our other car, a Subaru Outback, provides latch for all three seats, which is super convenient.
  • Make the second row headrests possible to remove without using a credit card. I mean... the button that you can get to with your fingers doesn't seem to do anything anyway. Why make people push the button they can see and the one they can't?
  • Can we talk about cup holders? Having only two cup holders in the front is just unnecessary and silly. This also makes me miss the LR3

I'm glad I'm not the only one whose trunk is scratched to hell. Ski poles, ice axe, hiking poles and snow-shoes have left a fine tapestry of scars on the plastic trim, fuse boxes and a few paint scratches on the rear door's interior. No big deal.

Not sure I'd like JLR to make a change in clumsy owner though.

On the rear cargo area.
I'd like to be able to remove the third row cup holders. Not needed and they slightly interfere with stuff. Again, not a big deal. I have tried, partially removing one to find they are molded to the plastic directly. I may just rip them out one day.

I'd prefer no cover or a removable cover on the rear 110V outlet. The little cover flips up and I'm confident with a high degree of certainty that I'll snap the cover off one day when it's in use and I'm loading or unloading something.

All these pale in comparison to the 18" wheel P400/D300 easy fix.

Okay, the “geofence the narrow lanes/driveways I often travel,” “don’t grab my damn phone until I TELL YOU to grab my damn phone,” and “rear camera should work properly and backup collision warning not go off when I’m carrying a bike rack back there” suggestions are pure gold. Each one of those annoys me on a regular basis.

While we're geofencing, I need mine to crouch when I go through my garage. I'm one forgetful moment from being de-finned.

I think we just added $6800 in options and half of them are unavailable already.

I think our man Mark can turn them all on for a hundred bucks if your truck is in SoCal.

Your post comes just as I am MacGyver’ing a solution to protect the cargo area interior from getting beat up and scratched to hell. I’ve always been a believer in a little prevention goes a long way. I’ve always hated how no matter how much you maintain the engine and other mechanicals, wash and wax and protect the exterior, only to have your vehicle’s interior look like it’s been through the mill. I had my Evoque for 8 years and when I traded it in the interior looked like the day I bought it. I haul a lot of beach gear; chairs, umbrellas, coolers, cart, etc. and the cargo area can quickly get scraped and scratched up. My project is almost done, and when finished will protect from the rear lip to the back of the front seats, and 3/4 up the sides, install and remove in a minute and so far has cost me $20-25. When complete I will post pics and a parts list. Easy, cheap and effective.

Two messy kids in the back leaves mine perpetually unclean.

Must be genetic I guess

Not too bothered.

The dirt on the outside hides most of the pin-striping.
