Because it's a new engine design and it may save you repairs later. The recommended oil change interval on the LR4 was 15K miles. Most of us that changed the oil every 7500 miles didn't have to replace the timing chain guides and tensioners. On the Defender, it's so easy to change the oil yourself and no downside to doing it more often.

Seriously tempted to tow mine from Austin to LA when it hits 2 year mark for some of that and to beg you for an e-diff build! Schedule me for AutoStop Off memory, 007 and wifi (if I could ever figure out if I'd really use it).

Just wanted to share my experience yesterday with my first ‘sorta’ long trip. Had to drive from the East coast of Florida to the West coast and back, approximately 6+ hours round trip. Picked up my ‘22 110 X-Dynamic SE in November ‘21, just hit 3,000 miles on the way home yesterday. Previously had just been around town, longest trip being 50 min to the airport one way, so was looking forward to a nice extended drive. I decided to try ECO mode since I expected to burn a lot of 93 grade fuel at $5.50+ a gallon. Firstly, didn’t notice any performance difference whatsoever. Additionally, there were a lot of single lane stretches with a disproportionate amount of commercial trucks which required lots of gas stomps to pass the lines of slow-moving traffic. Although ECO mode was activated, a request for power to pass was met with instant acceleration which most sports cars would be envious of. The nearly 400 hp got me up to speed and around these convoys in the blink of an eye, yet smoothly and confidently. When I got home, I reviewed my trip in the REMOTE app, under the ‘Journeys’ tab, which if you have not yet played around with, provides a wealth of information. I was able to achieve 25.4 mpg during one leg, far in excess of the usual 16+ mpg I get on a daily driver basis. And if you suddenly find the need for a little extra boost short of stomping the pedal to negate the ECO mode, one can simply slide the shifter to the left to Sport mode, overriding the ECO mode for the moment, then slipping it back to Normal drive mode after that. Most important, I was surprised/amazed to find that this heavily-built, horsepower heavy truck could achieve that kind of miles per gallon. And that was with the numerous passing requirements. I can only imagine what I could get on a multiple lane highway on cruise control, ECO mode, and conservative driving.

Thanks! I only have a few minor items (007 & Auto Off). I'll likely hold off. Unless you plan to meet up at SCARR or the Hill Country Rally.

A long time ago, I was rabid about bird hunting. I would join anyone for a trip any where. One day a friend told me that he had a rule: the journey couldn't exceed the activity. He wouldn't go to a 4 hour ball game if it took 8 hours to get there. Similarly, he wouldn't drive 12 hours for a 4 hour hunt. As I get older in my life, I kinda take that to heart. It's an 8 hour round trip for me. I'd love to get rid of the AutoStart feature, but I'll hold off until enough adds up for me. But if I'm already going to an event, count me in! So, depends on when it is. Since I'm (uncharacteristically) wishy washy, don't count me in for your mins. Thanks for the heads up!

8 hours RT to Dalllas. It takes, what, 2-3 seconds to get your finger out to the button and then back on the wheel? So say 2.5 second average: in only 11,520 driving trips you'll have spent 8 extra hours of your life pushing the AS/S button. Surely it's worth just getting it over with in one day, no?

When you find yourself in a situation like that, pull the parking brake release while your foot's on the brake pedal and that releases brake hold without having to use gas to do it.

In addition to your suggestion, isn’t there a way to turn OFF brake Hold feature in settings? The manual mentions it, and others here too, but I cannot find it in my settings. Thanks for the help!

I use Gummi Pflege - works great and I re-do it every 6 months or so. The gaskets are so well done/overbuilt in thsi car that I can see how this happens.
