Wheel lock lug nut suggestion please
2024 Defender 110 Basic.
Any suggestions for wheel lock (security) lug nuts?
Factory ones are very expensive ($250 for 4) and I need 5 because my spare has no cover.
First, I am not even sure what type of lug nut to buy. I am seeing two types being suggested.
Is this correct? LINK

Can someone make a suggestion?

As i wrote, I am seeking to buy after market security lock lug nuts for the spare tire. I am trying to put one locking nut on the spare tire, which is visible (it does not have the cover).
The vehicle has yet to be delivered. I didnt check personally whether or not the spare tire comes with security lug nuts. The dealer did say that the 4 wheels do not have security lug nuts and that it would be $250 for 4. I am assuming that, by default, the spare tire lug nuts also would be not the locking type, if the car does not come with "security lock lug nuts option"?

Spare gets two security lug nuts as standard.
For folks who live in the hellscape of the UK where everything gets nicked, they seem to be as useful as a chocolate teapot.
but your Defender will have two on the spare.
I would prefer mine had none as they are of no benefit here. Also a potential hinderance on the trail.

There is that much crime in Kirkland? hmm.. I thought it was a safe place.. Perhaps they defunded their police?
.Glad that it comes with security lug nuts.
I'm in the same boat as @GavinC , I have no need for them and have removed the ones from the spare too.
@PowerfulUK has a video on how painful they are to remove when old, so watch out.

I lost the key on my factory ones (forgot to take it off--this is, the first vehicle I have ever had with them).
Picked up regular nuts at the dealership then had them remove the locks and throw them away.
I can't imagine where you are parking in Seattle area but I'd say the risk of getting your Defender wheels stolen are very low (especially if they are 19s 🤣
.
But they come with locks, even the spare. No one has stolen mine, not even the spare.

I’m stateside.
they’re not needed here.
It would seem they’re of no use in places that do need to secure wheels. Like the UK.
