Where can I buy the storage box that hangs from the roof rails on the passenger side of the Defender? I can find no place to check the price from Land Rover and I am wary of the products that ship from China with a wide variety of prices. I am considering the BA Tents rack system from Lucky 8 and I want to get this storage box before I get the rack.

If you're going OEM I'd def go with something like nash's link above (or from another dealer). There are a couple of offers on ebay for the gear carrier in the US but without the LR badge and for $1000+ - meaning it could well be that you'd be buying a Chinese knock-off for nearly 10x the price (not that there is a great difference between the two...).

If you're going knock-off but want security, this is all I found on a quick google LR US is likely cracking down on anyone they can get their hands on, so you will have trouble finding a knock off in the US.

Funny enough, ebay.co.uk actually has several listings fro knock-offs in the UK.

In my opinion, Hunters Prestige out of the UK is a great place to pick one up!! They ship super fast, have options to color match, and as far as I can tell, the quality is top shelf. At about 400 bucks...well you cant beat that either.

Ordered the gloss black from Hunter's Prestige.

 

The storage box arrived from Hunter's Prestige in about a week for half the price of the LR unit. I got the gloss black with the Union Jack embossed. Looks badass. I will post a picture when I install it.

 

I am so glad you shared this info with me. I got my box in a week, and the install went great. A lot of people think the box is frivolous, but I am so happy to get a bunch of small items out of the truck. The embossed Union Jack in gloss black is great looking. This video was very helpful to watch before I did the installation.
There were a few things that made me pause, but it all worked out well. Removing the trim piece requires care. Measuring, marking, drilling and filing the metal trim piece for a perfect fit had me worried, but I got it done. The only other challenge was installing the covers on the lower bolts. The yellow clips just kept popping off the cover. I eventually used super glue to keep them from coming off the covers. In the video above the clips look silver so maybe from LR those pars are metal or different in some way. I am very happy with how little I see the box in my side mirror, and there is no noise from it.
