Default Why hasn’t someone distributed the prt numbers for the lucky8 swap

I thought that by now the process would have become public but the owners and purchasers haven’t leaked any part no. or instructions.
I completely get that this company discovered it but they’re selling off-the-shelf parts for two or three times more?
If any has this kit or has information on how to do the conversion, be a legend and tell us how to do it.

Which swap? Lucky8 sells a lot of gear. Some of it proprietary, some of it as a dealer, etc.

He's talking about the rear brake swap.

It has to be from something that weighs less and makes less power than the Defender. I'd assume it's an Evoque rear caliper. Photos of the swap caliper and Evoque caliper look pretty much identical - would require someone to test it out to confirm.

why wouldn’t you think they are the calipers from the 4 cylinder defender?

Definitely could be. Might have over thought that one. Does Land Rover have labeled exploded parts diagrams available, similar to the Porsche PET?

It's to fit 18" wheels on a P400.

The lucky 8 parts are a knock of land rover parts.

Here is the real caliper part numbers to fit tuffants on a p400 with a 350mm rotor.

LR102243 + LR102246

Enjoy.

Thanks @gts944 . That makes sense.

We have a theory in our office. We call it the F1 theory. It goes like this: Every 3-5 years, F1 re-makes the rules on what teams can do to modify their cars. Those teams that adopt FAST and make revolutionary changes the quickest start winning all the races. Then all the teams see what is up, make the changes and the playing field levels out. At about the time all the teams are level, the rules are modified again. The moral of the story is that those who innovate the fastest and cycle changes the quickest win the most races over the long haul. I'm not an F1 race aficionado or anything so I don't know the legitimacy of the premise, but I love the story.

I generally love the Lucky8 product line and what they are doing for the Defender aftermarket. Anyone who helps the community with modifications that are dearly lacking has my appreciation. If they are making a pile of money being early adopters and remarketing, more power to them - shame on me for not knowing that! Really appreciate the heads up and insight. Like everything, over time the playing field levels. I suspect the same thing is going on with the Australia bull-bars. It appears that they are on JLR's fitment page and look uncannily similar. However, if New Defender Mods can source them before they become GA in the USA - more power to their ability to source in this CRAZY supply chain. I just appreciate the insight into the true source so I can decide to pay or delay.

@mshotel - Nice find there. Thanks for the P#. Any chance I can lean on your wizardry again? Got the 18" steel wheel #'s?

Or anyone else - good source of steel wheels in 18"? I think I've seen threads around here so no problemo if I search. Is it just me, or I find google search does better than the thread search? (I need to get off my laziness and figure it out, perhaps).

So does anyone know if the Lucky8 rear calipers are just an undersized set of P300 calipers, which JLR engineers could have kept for the P400 but calculated they were too small for some set of circumstances which we will never be privy to? There’s no way they would have upsized just for ****s and grins — the P300 calipers had to have failed some test. Or are they an aftermarket solution with the same piston area as the P400 calipers but housed in a smaller housing that fits inside the 18s?

I wouldn’t want to degrade braking performance or throw brake balance off just to get an 18” fitment, as much as I would like to at least have a set of 18” off-road specific wheels/tires for swapping on when needed.
