This is much more heavy duty than I anticipated but Sean said he could not imagine a failiar in a recovery situation. These guys have a passion for what they do.

What was the labor cost? Any idea how many hours he actually spent? I am thinking of having one of his retailers install it.

I personally installed the factory winch with the AU Bullbar. It took me 23 hours, I was quoted 3 days at the dealership (around $4,000 in labor).

It’s a huge job and you better really trust your dealership…if you have them do it.

Link to video of the installation:

It was kind of simple install, especially with the included instructions and a temporary subscription to JLRTOPIX. It is very involved, but the defender is built like Legos and came apart easy enough. But you definitely need the correct tools. I did use PowerfulUK’s videos to guide me with the wiring.

Zero issues, zero new noises, the winch pulls like a champ. I installed it when the defender had under 1,000 miles, I’m at 31,000 now with lots of off-roading and winching.

I did install the Front Undershield at the same time since I had the front end apart.

Please feel free to DM if you have further questions.

I had it imported from Australia by New Defender Mods.

It came with all the necessary installation parts as follows:

Bull Bar
-VPLEP0448

Bull Bar Mounting Kit
-VPLEP0449

Crush Cans
-VPLEP0431

Camera Bracket
-VPLEB0437

I did have to buy/install black parking sensors on the front, the factory two are silver to match the original bumper, I installed the black so they blend in.

The flip up license plate bracket is from Tuffy that I modified to fit the AU Bullbar.

It does have a WeatherTech license plate cover on it as well.

I purchased the LR Warn Platinum 10-S from a Florida dealership, I called about 2 dozen dealerships before I found one in stock, back in August 2021 before I took delivery in October 2021. I wanted the factory Warn winch because it came with Defender specific wire harness and other parts.

Wow, This is an amazing setup. Thanks for all the detail. I have been researching and trying to get instructions for each install to figure out what the best options are. It is frustrating how much cutting of the defender is needed for these installs. I have an LR3 as well and JLR’s decision to move away from rugged and towards mall crawler continues to frustrate me.

That said I am loving my new 110X.

None of the options mentioned in this thread have a new bumper: they all just mount the winch behind the bumper and the bumper is cut to accommodate the fairlead, etc. The bullbar is available from LR in Australia only and the soft 'A-frame' is available from LR in the rest of the world (or from China on ebay and similar).

The winch mounts mentioned in the thread are from Lucky 8 LLC, Land Rover OEM, and Reul Sport in Belgium was also mentioned.

There are a few winch bumpers available that have been mentioned in various threads here.

I have the OEM bull bar I got from South Africa, a lot cheaper than from Defender mods. I can also let you know that my rock sliders from Lucky8 are incredibly strong, I hit something in the water crossing hard and it took off the line-x but the slider held strong no damage to it at all.
