Winch Options for New Defender
#41
The Landrover Winch is over $4000 and the WARN winch by itself is a little over $2000. Is there a huge advantage to the LR version of the winch? I know the harness is dedicated but I imagine that you can hookup without that.
Also the dimensions for the 10S and 12S are similar, I see some use the 10 and some use the 12. Any disadvantage of the 12? Not much different in price.

Thank you for the info. Found the light bar looks nice.

I studied the wiring diagrams and winch wiring for a good 60 days last year and I don't think the LR winch harness ever power cycles the winch - I think all it does is prevent the winch from operating during an engine start command (whether user start or auto start/stop). This is because the start by either the 48v generator or the actual starter plus a winch pull might be too much. And this is why people who have bought the Land Rover branded Warn winch with the according LR harness end up needing to power cycle it (Simon did a video about it last month, and they just introduced a mesh patch panel so you can cut a hole in the LR bullbar/winch coverings and access the on/off switch not he back of the Zeon 12s).
In other words, it should power cycle the winch, but it doesn't do this. I don't think they considered the idea that bluetooth or wifi doesn't always work. This is why I didn't buy the LR winch and just put in a Warn and made my own (better and less complex harness) w/ a control box relocation to underhood.
If I'm wrong about this, pls correct me.

Is it something that can be fabricated easily? How much mods do you need to the LED and grill?
Lordy, joys of JLR ownership...
How are the S2 Pros mounted?

S2 Pros are mounted to the inside of the bumper cover. Mods for the led light are not overly complicated but you are cutting out the grill cover and the attachment points inside the grill itself.
Wiring for the led is to the high beam trigger on the right headlight and through an SPOD controller. S2s are wired to the SPOD and switched only through the SPOD. SPOD is mounted in the space to the left of the steering wheel

I expect delivery of my 110 is December. I did not order the factory winch, but I am looking at aftermarket options. One I'm looking at is the New Defender Sport Wench Bar and New Defender 12,000 LB Winch , both sold by NewDefenderMods.com. I would appreciate thoughts and experiences from the community.
Thank you
