Windscreen wiper replacement for the cheapskate / environmentally sensitive person
It has always irritated me that when your windscreen wipers wear out, you have to replace everything - not just the rubber. This is how to just replace the rubber with an $8 refill https://a.co/d/2QT41q7.
To open up the blades, use a couple of small screwdrivers to lift the locking tab on the top end cap
This lets the end cap slide off pulling the rubber insert with it. The rubber insert is notched to fit around 2 pins in the end cap which as far as I can determine, serve no useful purpose
I hacked the pins off
And now the $8 refill (when trimmed to length) slides in easily and the end cap latches back on. So far the quality of the refills has been excellent, but even if they only last 6 months, the replacement will simple and I feel good about not trashing perfectly good parts.

Also. A little investigation on my part. The plastic tabs that were removed are only present on one end. Removing both ends allows the rubber to slide in and out freely.
Looks like the plastic tabs engage the little rubber cutout. 1cm from end. 3mm wide.
I’ll make a little cut on the rubber like the OEM rather than remove the tabs. Fun little project when the refill arrives.
thanks OP. I owe you a beer.
