Default Wireless Brake Controller Like Echo Smart, Anybody use one?

Anybody used an Echo Smart Wireless Brake Controller on their Defender? If not what hard wired Automatic Brake Controllers are you using that are easy to install? Thanks. Looking for one to pull my 2021 No Boundaries 19.3.

I use the Curt Echo. The first one didn’t work consistently, spoke with Curt and they sent me a new one. The replacement has been rock solid and easy to use.

I have one I used on my Rubicon and can't seem to get the Bluetooth to recognize it in the Defender. Did you use the In Control ap or what to hook it up. Thanks for your help.

I used the Curt Echo app, haven’t had any problems with it connecting. There is a specific startup procedure. You first need to open them app, plug in the brake controller to the plug, pair to your phone and only then connect to the trailer.

The first one I had wouldn’t consistently work and it would either be full on or full off. Thought it was an issue with the Defender, then the trailer but ultimately was a bad unit. Their customer service was great, sent me a new one no questions asked.

Just wondering if you had to plug in your trailer to the Echo for the brake controller lights to come on? Thanks.

@sheephunter2 You might want to look at this thread: https://landroverforums.com/forum/20...roller-101917/ We installed the Redarc as described by @guado. Very happy with it.

When you plug in the Echo brake controller, it should start blinking blue. Once it connects to your app, it should turn a solid blue. Once you plug in your trailer, it will initially blink yellow while it initializes then turn solid green (I think). My trailer is in storage for the winter, otherwise I’d check for you.

Hope you get it working!

Thanks mine is no longer doing that. I'm thinking it is toast. I've had it for a couple of years. Got another one coming. Easy to use for sure. I didn't know if the Defender connected the same way as the jeep and it sounds like it does.
