Hi guys,
I was planning to wrap my upcoming 110 V8 however I’m not sure how long I’m planning to keep the car (few months to a year or maybe longer) therefore I wanted your advice, will this affect the resale value of the vehicle?
The color ordered is Santorini Black and planning to wrap in Metro Satin Nero.
Most dealerships will ask you to remove the wrap if it is of color. It will end up being just costly for you to do if you don't plan to keep. However PPF clear done by a professional with warranty transfer might gain you an extra few hundred. I've had dealer even remove that as well. The bottom line is the dealer you sell it too will have to be able to warranty/guarantee it and color wraps are considered aftermarket (in some states you have to report the color change to your motor vehicle department and insurance). If you selling private party it might be worth a few bucks to the right buyer but you won't get your money back out unless you find the person who really doesn't know. lol
Wrapping is the next best thing to a custom color or shade. It will set you back about $ 4-5k. Will you get your money back? - most likely not.
But, if this is something that you would like to see or have, then the $ question is out the door.
Personally, I would not buy a wrapped car. No matter how fabulous looks. You never know if there is something hiding under that. But this, is one man's opinion.

That is a great point, and it aligns to why dealers won't take trade with wrap around here.
I don't know what the "sweet spot" of wraps are, but there appears to be one. If you plan on keeping it a short time, you won't want to have it on for the above reasons. So, it will cost to have it removed. I don't know what kind of PITA/cost it is, but I presume far less than putting it on. If you are going to hold the vehicle for a very long time, it makes more sense to paint it. So there's apparently a sweet spot between "too soon" and "wears out".
I'm just waiting for the first Line-X'ed Defender. I was planning on this for my Wrangler when it got to the "needs repainted" stage. It had a lot of Utah pinstriping.
Here's a LineX'd old defender:

Could definitely see a pre-663 Defender being LineX'd / Rhino'd. In fact, they should have started with the frame! Especially the rear cross members as they are notorious rust collectors.
We have used xpel PPF on the last 15 or 20 cars. Someone backed a snowblower down the side of a 911 C4S and after removing the expel there was no damage. I have been sold since. Had an e63s wrapped in stealth...the car looked mean as well as an RS6, themodel y warpped in stealth with the matte finish and it looks great. For our Defender 110 X, we wrapped the front end, we wrapped the A pillars, and all the high traffic high scuff areas. For the parts of the truck that are not wrapped they are done in the Geyon ceramic and full tint. Turned out really well.
