YouTube TFL channel bought a 2023 90 for a long term tester.
A really good video by TFL was posted on their YouTube channel today.
‘Seems they have purchased another Defender this time a 90 P300.
Looking forward to more content from them on the 90.

They might have better luck now with 18s and since it's used they don't need to break it in like their last P300 which they offroaded immediately and killed the engine in a day.
The downside is they don't have air suspension this time around but it should still be a decent spec. It reminds me of mine but theirs was 3k more MSRP than mine cost and I had air suspension. I didn't bother with any sunroof. Theirs has the fully electric seats which is something I regretted not having with the seat issues mine had.

I was a bit surprised they had forgotten or rather just seemed surprised at the rubber floor.
‘I was suprised when I got mine, but I had never owned or even driven one prior. They had owned 3 and tested several others.
I heard them mention the 24 and 25 models had some minor updates. Mine is also a 23 and I guess I had not heard of any updates, other than that special Octa model for 2025.
Anyone know off any changes on 24 and 25 models. I am sort of thinking he might be mistaken about changes from 23 to 24 models.

They all had the rubber floors but I added the deep-sided rubber mat set, I didn't want to be taking a hose to getting rid of salt residue on the rubber flooring, much easier to just pull out the rubber mats and clean those up. To each his/her own though.
I think he's thinking of the smaller screen vs the larger but there was a point during the pandemic late 22 or 23 where they all shipped with the smaller one due to parts shortages, I think that's why they have that, although some people did prefer it and chose it anyway. I had the larger screen in my 2022 which was the first time it was offered, it was only like $200 or something trivial to option in and was well worth it IMO.

I thought their screen looked smaller then mine, just figured was just camera optics, or possibly if it was smaller it had to do with theirs being a P300 or something like how it has springs instead of air suspension.
As long as they don’t cry when something breaks while doing some extreme maneuvers and complain about it being a Land Rover, I’ll be glad to watch. They tend to push their vehicles much harder than most of us so it’s not exactly a fair use, apples to apples comparison. Rugged isn’t indestructible. My 24 has been perfect for what I wanted. A very comfortable and capable commute and travel vehicle.
It seems every review lumps the defender quality in with every other LR and RR, instead of judging its quality on its own merits and history. It’s poor journalism and doesn’t withstand the slightest scrutiny.

I like these guys - great videos! They are true LR fans, and I think they will be much happier with a 90 on 18"s. They had a rough drive with the one on factory issued 20"s. It was an unfortunate trip resulting in a small but sharp pointed rock: 2. JLR oversized rims: 0. Very humbling to see a $80k SUV completely defeated by a small 7 inch stone in the way. This is one reason I gripe about the lack of an 18" rim on the P400s - which IMO would be ideal and a super seller. Do I care about going 130 mph? No, forget about those imaginary driving speeds or going 0-60 in 3 seconds - focus on practical and how about some nice tires on there? It was quite frustrating to realize that in all of JLR engineering might with Defender, they forgot to check what size rim in the US would give owners tire choices. TFL has good insights and know their stuff; they will certainly challenge their new 90, so I wish them good luck with it.

I also get that there are countries like Germany that have Autobahns where crazy high speeds are common or at least legal to where it might get used at a speed like that on occasion.
However, that is not common here in the US and there are other things on these vehicles that are likely specific to our US spec or to meeting the US safety and emissions standards.
My TRX had aggressive speed a rated 18" offroad tires allowing it to be governed @ about 120mph.
I am thinking that approach is far better suited for the needs of the north American consumer. I am not sure why that would be a problem for LR, they have all the necessary parts in their parts bin.
Offer an offload pkg across all trim levels, simply sources an 18" offroad worthy 120mph speed rated tire then simply govern it to something like 120 mph, at that point those larger brakes should not be the safety concern or requirement that they are now with that crazy 150+ top speed capability.

Knowing you’re on a 20” rim, try not deflating your tires and also do put a decent tire on. Having run some of the same off-road trails I can promise you my D rated KO2 on an 20” rim isn’t defeated by a 7” rock.
