Default Brazil to Florida with a Defender 110

Hello,

I am an Amarican living in Brazil and I am thinking of making a trip back to the states with my 2002 Land Rover Defender 110. The two things that make me feel uncertain about the trip is traveling through certain countries which may not be so safe, and getting the car, which was never sold in the USA, into the country.

Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts on this.

Thank you,

Joel Bondorowsky

Your best bet is to check with U.S. Customs.
When you get to Texas if there is anything I can do let me know
I will try my best to help.

Customs would be your best bet,as far as being safe, well buy a weapon, there cheap enough and easy to find down there,I would go with an AK, for the reason of no matter how abused it is it wil work, alot of them, and cheap.

When you get to a border you can just ditch it,DO NOT get caught going over borders with it.

I spent alot of time in 3rd world countries and the local police or army should not bother you just don't go flashing it around.

I know this may sound funny but maybe for a price I could ride along with ya, you pay for the airfair(to get there and from florida) and the rest we can talk about depends on when your going to do this,be better then hiring someone down there and I am an american with no working connections down there(so you know I am not going to rob and kill ya).

I work in law enforcement here so depends on how much off time I could get off.

I would vote no on the AK .
I sure that if its gets that bad you can find
local help for a few bucks in the right hands.

It worked for a friend of mine on his drive from London to India.

Company would be great, but I don't think I should be armed. There are many countries I will have to cross. Besides, I have spent the past few years in desolate parts of Brazil dealing with locals. I was robbed twice when I first got here, but as I started to learn how to deal with these people and the language, it has gotten better.

However, the reason for my trip would be to sell a Defender. I currently have two Defender 110's, one is a 98 and the other is a 2002. They are ideal SUVs for anyone who wants to go anywhere and haul a large load or many people or both doing it. If I find that there is a buyer for one, I'll personally take it up there and give you call.

I currently opperate a tour business in Brazil where I make safari like trips on a regular basis on the remote trails and beaches. The North of Brazil is really desolate. I have about 1000 photos from the trip here.

I'd appreciate any opinions on it, or even more, a buyer.

Thanks,

Joel

I think he was looking to sell his Defender more than make a real 4wd voyage. A poser in other words....

So many people see the U.S. as a place to make some big money by
selling Defenders 90's or 110's.
The only reason they sell for so much is you can not bring any in, if we
could they would not demand the big $.
Supply and demand.
