Default Light Off Roading near Jackson Hole, SD, NE

Greetings,

Starting on Easter Monday my wife and I will be doing a cross-country trip. We are going to go from LA, up through Utah on the south to north route from Hurricane, through Salina, to Salt Lake City. We are going to spend the weekend in Jackson Hole before we continue east through Nebraska and South Dakota.

Unfortunately I’ll be working during the week in Utah, and will not have any opportunities to go to Moab. We may get a brief visit to Mount Zion. So unfortunately, I am not looking for recommendations in Utah. Specifically focused on the locations up north.

I’m looking for any light off throating excursions in the Jackson hole, Deadwood, & Mount Rushmore areas. These are all places were going to be visiting and having a little extra time.

We will be fully equipped, however it is not my goal to do any hard-core off-roading. First of all my wife’s not interested second of all on a cross-country trip I don’t need to be breaking anything by pushing my limits.

I am looking for light off-roading opportunities where I can get my wife out to see some areas that you wouldn’t see from the highway, but that aren’t going to subject her to too much of the unpleasantness that she finds an off-roading – slow crawling over obstacles, etc. Looking for opportunities to see scenery and show her the best of the west.

I would really appreciate any recommendations from anyone who lives in Oris visited the area. Thank you!

Probably get more responses on Expedition Portal website. It's an overland site and many more "travelers" there.

Have a safe trip and don't forget to share some pictures...sounds like a great road trip.

Brian.
