Rovers On The Rocks X1
Okay so it's that time of year again, Rovers on the rocks X1!
Every year on Veterans Day weekend lucky 8 hosts Rovers on the rocks at anthracite off road adventure area near Shamokin PA. It's an awesome 3 days with challenges that go all the way across the park and back with a winner being declared on Saturday evening. It's a low-cost event that's great fun for all ages and all trail levels.
So I took off last night after work from Georgia to head up to PA. stopped overnight somewhere in Virginia and got the anthracite today around 2 p.m. It was a pretty leisurely drive for me I really wasn't in a hurry.
Saw a real Trek truck for sale at Land Rover Columbia SC. Really amazing looking in person.
It seems I have phone service out here this time so I will try to update pics as the weekend goes on for those not lucky enough to be here.

So Friday it kicked off and I was on the trails from open to close. The LR3 performed flawlessly all day. Every trail, water hazard, and climb it just walked right on through. There is so many miles of trails out there at Anthracite we drove for hours and never hit the other end of the park. There is a bit of everything out there for whatever level truck or driver skill you have.
People were hitting all the challenges for a chance to be in the top 5 and compete for the trophy on Saturday night.
Didn’t get as many pictures as I would like as I was driving lol

Friday Night the guys from Lucky8 hosted a social over that the Ale House in town. Great food lots of local beer options and I think they ordered every wing in town to share with all that showed up.
With full stomachs we all headed back to the campground, hung out in the warming tent for a bit than fired up the Mr Buddy Propane heaters in our tents and called it a night

Saturday was another fantastic day on the trails. The Rover community showed up in a full force and had just about every model out bouncing down the trail. We ran through all the challenge points, led one group joined another and had a blast.
Hit one trail that went a bit sideways on me but all I needed in the end wasn’t a winch or recovery gear just a solid spotter to line the tires up where they needed to be to climb out. The LR3 never ceases to amaze me.
Photo credit for the mud hole pics goes to Kelsy who has a super clean Ex-Mod 90 and a nearly stock LR3

Fantastic! I'm sure I would be terrible driving on all the mud and leaves....just starting to feel like I have some semblance of a clue out here in this style of wheeling. I would love to make it back for one of these or maybe the event held at Wintergreen as I have family not far from there.

Awesome event, highly recommend making the trip.

So Saturday night saw the top 5 prepared to do battle for the title on the special stage before dinner.
They all met with Justin from Lucky8 for their briefing before.the event.
Then the competitors hit the course. Some quite literally pounded hard into a very stout stump in one section.
After the completion we all sat down for dinner, a toast to our Veterans/Active Duty military in attendance with a presentation of poker chips
I thought that was a really great thing to do.
Then raffles, auction and the award for the Rovers on the Rocks X1 full park challenge. A well loved Red D90 took home top honors
