The Summer 19 trip British Columbia Vancouver to Rockies and back.
As I do every year I am planning a 4 to 5 day trip through BC in my Disco, the current plan is 25 to 29th of July I have a build /Prep thread going which will be updated shortly.
The start is easy from home to Revelstoke BC, this is a hi-way drive of about 5 hours and 300 miles from home and being BC lots of up hill and only a bit of flat, from there I will position myself for day 2.
From Revelstoke to home will be longer and largely FSR (Forest Service Road), maps to be posted shortly. I have traveled portions of this route before, and expect I will not complete it all as I have 4 days to get home and on most FSR's you average 40 to 50 KPH (20 to 30 mile per hour),and it is about 700 miles of largely gravel travel.
The 2nd day will be either running down the Arrow Lakes to Cody Caves or down 3 Valley Gap, forest fires and fishing reports will determine which, the last couple of years have been pretty brutal with fires.
Cody Caves is currently the favorite for day 2. I think it would be pretty cool, if a tour is available when I am there, you can check it out here : https://www.codycavetours.com/ Although a good chunk is secondary hiway mixed with gravel there is some outstanding scenery and and interesting stops along the way.
Day 2, will end up somewhere west of the Arrow lakes, possibly near the BC/Washington border. Preparing to start heading vaguely westward.
I hope to update this thread occasionally on the trip, when I fuel up.
More to come
