Uwharrie Safari 2013 - April 11-14th - Western NC
Registration is now open for the event. The price is $40 per truck plus your $5 daily trail pass you purchase at the local store. Event fee covers use of the group camp Thurs-Sat night which has showers/toilets. There is some open space for trailers (dry camping), which there are usually a few of, but mostly tents and off-road trailers with tents.
Saturday night meal of Hungry Hog BBQ can be purchase when you register, as well as T-shirts for the event all on the web page link. In addition, Will Tillery, of Land Rover repair and parts fame, will be playing up some tunes with his band again this year and are scheduled for two sets on Saturday night along with the auction with a lot of vendor goodies set to be giving away! Bring cash, buy tickets, and support our charity fund raising auction.

I picked-up some used 265/75/16 M/T tires and road them last weekend off-road and worked well. I need to get my rack back on with some chicken coop flooring, and need to clean up the camping trailer to get it ready for the trip. Trying to get the CDL ready by then also. I should be rolling in late Thursday night.

Had a great weekend wheeling in some picture perfect weather in NC. Good food "Hungry Hog BBQ" and friends! What a large quantity of items from our sponsors for the fund raising charity raffle. Some pretty nice items, like an Ironman 12K winch, Powertank, Southeast Overland synthetic winch cable and super strong dog leashes, couple pairs of TF shocks, a Nexus tablet, Powertank accessories, multiple Dewalt battery powered hand tools, saws, shovels, recovery straps, lots of shirts/hats/stickers, CROC Logo insulated cups, LR insulated cups, gift certificates from $100 to $25 from multiple vendors for metal fabricated items and stock LR accessories, quick fist of all sizes, gift cards for REI gear, some nice large scale toy defenders, and some nice Land Rover illustrated books and other great kids items. Rovers North, Atlantic British, Lucky8, Rovaguy, RTE, Two Guys Metal Fabrication, GBR (former Great Basin Rovers), Dewalt & Stanley tools through Lowe's, Mountain Kakis and others helped support our club and the NC Animal Conservator's Center.
Great job by our new Carolina Rover Owners Club ("CROC") board and great job by our sponsors of coming through with lots of items for our raffle. Also, our parts & repair guru Will Tillery and his band "The Stone Saints" played some great Blues tunes old and new after our Sat. BBQ feast and raffle. Will looks just as comfortable on the keyboards as he does under a rover! Great time! Hope to see you their next year! Always great to see some of the older vintage classic rovers like we did this weekend out on the trails.

Hey - Im in that pic! What are the odds. Really nice meeting you and your family Tony. This was our 2nd trip to Uwharrie and we will definitely be back for many more. The rides were impressive, people super friendly, and the weather couldnt have been better.
