Some updates: 1st pic we got some deadner laid down in the rear
2nd pic: everything out! Because the entire floor will get a layer of deadner and it makes this kind of install easier
3rd pic: even the center console needs to come out
4th and 5th: these are related to how we are running to e power wires. I wanted to use existing holes where I could. I don’t want to use the main harness hole mainly because the power wire is too thick (1/0) and we don’t want to disturb the in cabin fuse box. So we made our own hole on the firewall through the wheel well (pics of that coming later today) and will be running the wire up by the air box through that hole in the pics

The firewall on the lr3 and most modern vehicles is basically 2 firewalls. So we drilled a pilot hole from the inside and then used a step bit to make the hole the size we need. Then used a universal wire boot from the inside and a rubber grommet from the outside. This seals up nicely but we will still put some silicon around the the wire when done.

Ok back at it. I’ve been busy with work etc but I’ve been working on it

see this door harness? This thing ended up being the bane of my existence.

I ended up having to replace the harness on the driver side door because I broke the locking tabs on it.

I bought another door harness on eBay and surprise surprise the door plug was broken on that one too. I ended up making it work though.

since I had the harness out, I removed the existing speaker wires and replaced them with the new ones.
I would not do this again mainly because of how much a pain this is to get in and out.

I ended up taking the door off and it was much easier to do.

For the dsp, I decided on Minidsp. Mocking up the first amp mount and wire routing.

So those last photos were of water coming in from the c pillar. I suspect water is coming in from the roof rack attachment points but I’m not going to mess with it until this build is done. Then I’ll drop the headliner and deaden the roof and fix that leak.

for now though here is some amp rack progress

Had to go on spring break trip but now I’m back. Rack is painted, and one last test fit before I begin wiring.
