Default Installation Day

Starting this morning I'm going to be installing a new Stereo system in my RR. Head unit is a JVC Arsenal KD-AR560, CD receiver with MP3 / WMA playback. Leaving existing door speakers, they sound pretty good but I will be using new spear wires which will be hooked up to my Sony XM-2200GTX - 2-channel car amplifier - 200 watts RMS x 2 (I think that should be good enough). Last speakers in trunk will be two Rockwood twelve inch. powered by a Europa 400 watts amp.

My Clarion 920 EQ will be added, wish I had a Digital camera to take before and after shots for you all to see..

Any comments, thoughts or ideas are welcome.

can't find a pic for you on the amp, not a bad deck though, I would stay away from any x-plod sony crap, and hopefully the 920 EQ is a newer DVC, if not you can pick them up for about 80 bucks new. But why spend the 500 bucks for all that when the stock stuff sounds good?

It's all done ladies and gents... I am using the factory speakers, all 11 of them, I only added the sub for extra bass, yes you guys are right, I'm looking to buy another amp since the sony is not able to push the speakers the way I want it to. But over all the sound is magnificent...

NOw my dilema the FRONT passgener side speakers refuse to play, all I hear is a humming noise, I checked wiring all is set ok.. wonder if the amp is gone??hhmm!!

if it is both speakers on only one side and it is only a humming noise its sounds like wiring. + and - wires either crossed or incorrect

Usually when an amp channel munches itself, it creates an open circuit and you get no sound at all. The hum could be caused by a faulty capacitor in that circuit also. There is also the possibilty that that speaker wire is too close to a power wire (electromagnetic radiation), but you would most likely have some signal albeit at a low volume.

My vote would be something in the amp went south.
