RE: wiring loom
not trying to be mean here but if you don't know what wire to use should you be making a wiring harness? But if i were going to do it i would start with finding out how many amps the wire needs to carry then that will tell you you gauge, less amps smaller wire, more = larger wire. The plugs if any are going to be the expensive part.

Having a diagram is just part of what you need to build a harness. You also need the wire length dimentionsand terminals. This requires a harness blueprint/schematic. This is a chart with actual routing and breakout locations measured out.
Harnesses are manufactured on a board (plywood) with nails/bolts to wrap the wires around and tape. Its a simple process when you have everything and all the information you need to put 1 together. The second easiest way is to reverse engineer an already built harness and fabricate a board to reproduce that harness. Sadly, this is only cost effective if you're going to massproduce that part. Its less hassle just to pay a lil higher price for a harness from the manufacturer.
I say: If you have the time and pateince.....and want to do it yourself, by all means. Do it.
