Default Oil running down loom to ECU

Hi two things is there any real benefit in chipping the ECU on a 2003 diesel 2.5 Disco 11 as ive been told that it improves the running and fuel economy. The other question was when the ECU plug was disconnected there was oil present on the plug, it hadn't got inside the ECU, but I'm concerned as to we're its coming from.
Many thanks.

I'm pretty sure the oil comes from the injector harness.

Most on this forum are in North America, and we didn't get the option for the Td5. You'll have better luck at aulro.

There would be a benefit to chipping the engine, based on who does it and the type of driving you do. If you need more power, the process along with tubro/intercooler work would give you a big plus.

As new as the 2003 is, it should have a flashable ecu, so you can upload a map with nanocom or the like. (It doesn't hurt to verify the ecu part number just to be sure.)

Early d2 requires swapping a chip out or upgrading to the newer ecu.
