3M makes a two part epoxy that made for bonding automotive sheet metal panels, it's pretty strong stuff. You could soften/round edges, force the two pieces apart, apply in between, clamp it for 24 hours, then trim excess. Worse case scenario, put a few pop-rivets along edge...she'd have a 110 feel to her then.

this was more inline with what I had in mind. Was unaware of the 3M product (will look it up now), doors on car look to have used bondo and they've held up well with no rot in the bottom of doors over the years.
Tube bumper sold and waiting on a quote to get the RTE bumper stripped so I can paint it before putting it on. Trying to not put it on all crusty if I can help it as it wont' come off again to paint it haha would like this truck to clean up a little bit even though it gets wheeled hard. It spends more time around town than on dirt these days anyways.
few weeks until my annual wheeling trip to moab. Got started on some wiring harness for some Baja Design rock lights I got from a buddy in a trade for some parts. Also found a full wiring harness with switch from a previous project ready to roll for either the spots or driving lights from the roof rack of my white disco. No shame in pilfering there for this trip. Have not decided which beam pattern I'll grab yet. Weather this weekend is going to be sensational so really hoping to put a dent in some of pre trip punch list!
one step closer to moab. Lights, coolant hoses, water pump and then figure some minor death wobble action this weekend. Leave next Wednesday
edit: one day I'll finish removing the crap on the hood and paint it all one color again. The aspen silver of the 25th anniversary is so boring it'll be hard to respray the whole car that way even though that's what probably should happen.

So another great trip in the books but not without it's issues..
truck ran great out to Moab and we ran Moab Rim only to have the PS abhor being used that hard so we ended up running most of it with no PS (petrifying) and noticed driver front brake caliper puking brake fluid. That was the extent of my wheeling as we couldn't source a caliper or piston seals in our time there. Fortunately a group member towed their classic out so we swapped mine on the trailer back to Denver and I drove his back. Also got to drive his on a quick run on Fins and Things while he helped another group member with another break but that's a different story entirely

I know she's uglier than sin still but aside from the PS issue (will be looking into electric PS options this summer) she just wheels so smoothly. Truly remarkable what a well sorted suspension will do on a classic, especially a LWB.
Oh yea he saved my bacon on this one and was very generous to let me rip his classic for a few hours. I think with a proper aluminum car hauler trailer it would really do even better.
