I'll add the diaphragm to the (long) list...

Honestly the CC once the truck is modified can't be that useful unless you live where there are zero hills. Neither of mine work but my 4th gear is also pretty much useless with the weight and tires and it's already delayed to downshift so I'm sure it'd be even worse with the CC activated..

One repair I could not handle myself was a small exhaust leak I found. Got that handled this morning. Here's the leak, it's just after the driver's side catalytic converter:

And a half hour later, all fixed. No more rattle from the shield and no more stinking exhaust:

The weather and schedule are looking good for me to tackle the cooling system this weekend . . .

OK, I have to chime in. This was so much fun to see someone take their first hit of one of the most addictive drugs out there.

The one he got really is a great example and nice and a good middle of the road spec. With the 4.0 and non SAI engine, it will be really bomb proof as Yeti is as much of a nut on service as I am. No codes, no appreciable leaks, and most everything works. All I did was make certain he’d get home safely and without issue, which he did. He only has a few little things here and there to fix, which is part of the fun, so this is going to be fun to watch.

One of the cool lessons he learned as I did (but didn’t know on my last D2) that you not only need to add the CDL, but to get the most out of it, you need the ‘04 SLABS as well. So it’s going to be cool to see how his does when that has completed.

Another addict! YAY!

So one of the most-annoying, yet hilarious, issues with this Disco is getting fixed today.

Flash back to the day the Disco showed up at Sally's. He sent the kids off to school and then facetimed with me to go over the new truck. I kept cracking up because he kept honking the horn every time he got in or out of the Disco and it was clearly driving him nuts. I thought it was just his oversized ape arms hitting the horn button. So I show up six weeks later to pick it up, get in the driver's seat and . . . HONK!!! It was then that I realized the horn spring was gone and if you even breathed on the button the horn would honk. Last weekend, I honked the horn 13 times while installing the new stereo. (Thankfully I have tolerant neighbors.) Even the muffler shop dude honked it three times just getting it on the lift.

Well, I bought a new horn button and spring off eBay and those will be installed as soon as I'm done typing this. FINALLY

Today was supposed to be the day I upgraded the cooling system on the Disco but San Diego can't stop having rainy days so that's getting put off until tomorrow. I hope. (Anyone want to come help?)

So I knocked out a couple of minor tasks. First, when the Disco was driving up onto the rack at the muffler shop, I noticed the driver's side taillight was foggy(?) and I could barely see the brake light. When I got home I checked eBay and found a great one for a great price. Old versus new:

When I replaced it I also installed the taillight guards:

I didn't install the bumper light guards because the bumper is cracked right where the passenger side guard would be drilled. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.

My front bumper was missing the headlight washers and the holes were bugging me. Since we're in San Diego I don't really need headlight washers so I bought the block-offs and installed those:

Last, I replaced the e-brake boot since the old one was nasty:

I cleaned the switches up too. I found that 3 of the 4 clips for the switch panel were broken too, Only the upper passenger side clip is still there. Yay.

And the new boot:

I am hoping the replace the center console at some point anyways since the one I currently have has lived a rough life with lots of scratches.

Tomorrow, I hope to replace the water pump, do the in-line thermostat mod, and switch the coolant from orange to green. Replacing all the hoses too. Wish me luck . . .

Cooling system refresh is easy just annoying bc you know coolant sucks and all. Longest portion of that job is potentially cleaning the block from the old water pump gasket, but you might get lucky and most of it comes off with the old pump. Check the torque on the pump bolts as it's not very much and would be very easy to over do it.

According to the RAVE, the water pump bolts are 24nM. Sound right? I also got the severe duty clutch and the Dorman fan. Does anyone know what hardware I need to mate them up?

Don't do the severe. I've tried it like 3 times and put it back to stock after one drive. I can't think off the top of my head the bolt size. I think it's like an M12 and length I don't remember. Hmm that feels a tad high for the pump bolts but yea the Rave is what I checked when I just did one the other month.

I'm not sure my stock one is any good. Why don't you like the severe duty clutch? Is it because of the noise? Maybe I'll do the other one if it's too loud. Here in San Diego we get some serious heat and for slow trails I feel like I'm going to need ALL the cooling tricks.
