I'm not sure my stock one is any good. Why don't you like the severe duty clutch? Is it because of the noise? Maybe I'll do the other one if it's too loud. Here in San Diego we get some serious heat and for slow trails I feel like I'm going to need ALL the cooling tricks.
it’s unholy loud and sucks so much power from the 4.0. Elevation is worse here and the stock clutch hangs okay. Be better to go stock and then modify condenser fan to kick on earlier than it’s programmed imo

Is there a thread on here about how to get the condenser fan to kick in earlier?
Maybe I'll stick with stock for now and see whether I need the severe duty clutch. My recollection is there's a clutch below the 2991 but still better than stock, maybe I should consider one of those. The best thing, I think is to replace the water pump and do the in-line thermostat mod and see how she does. Sadly, not going to happen today, still sick as a dog and the weather is not cooperating.

On my D1 I added a parallel circuit (fuse, relay, toggle switch) so I can run the condenser fans whenever I want and there was as little as possible disruption of the factory wiring. It's working well for me that way.

I'll need to look into that. I'm not really handy when it comes to electronic stuff, but I'm sure I can find something.
Started working on the cooling system overhaul. Got everything off just fine. A kiddie pool is the ticket for catching all the coolant. Here's everything off:
Made sure I kept the bolts in order:
This is as far as I got on removing the old gasket. This stuff just will not come off.
During a couple of breaks while letting the gasket remover do its thing, I installed a new license plate frame:
I also removed the a-pillar trim, replaced the corner raingutter trim piece I knocked off, and then put the a-pillar trim back on. Looks so nice.
Hopefully I can finish everything tomorrow. Glad I have my Colorado to make parts runs and get to work.
That gasket was a bitch and, as you may have heard, San Diego has been subjected to one atmospheric river after another. Finally finished removing the old gasket material yesterday afternoon:
So this morning I went out to work on it and opened the rear door to get a part out and found this:
There was a small puddle on the Weathertech cargo mat. Looks like it's coming from the rear sunroof:
Is that where it would be leaking if the rear sunroof drains were blocked? Does anyone know if there's a way to unblock the drains without opening the rear sunroof? (Mine does not work right now) I had planned to have the headliner reupholstered and fix the rear sunroof anyways, but I guess those jobs got moved up the list.
Made some real progress today on the cooling system upgrades. I installed the FlowKooler water pump, the Extinct Inline thermostat (without the thermostat), connected all the coolant hoses, replaced both idler pulleys, and re-installed the new serpentine belt. For once, everything went smoothly except for bonehead me installing the main hose across the radiator backwards the first time. :facepalm This weekend I'll flush out the rest of the Dexcool and replace it with normal coolant. Can't wait to have her back on the road.
Since we're expecting to get hit by our 13th Atmospheric River this week (SERIOUSLY???), I did a little redneck repair to the sunroof seal. I'm not optimistic it'll work, but I really don't have any options. Gorilla Tape ftw?
Stay tuned for this weekend...
I don't know if that tape job will hold I did something very similar and it still leaked so my dad and I just put a whole patch job of tape and covered the entire sunroof glass and everything and it's been waterproof for going on 2 years now. We also used "waterproof" tape too so that might have helped.
