Default Disco 3 from stock to......

So in a fit of drunken stupidity I have bought yet another LR3 making that a total of 3 of these beasts in my drive. It needs a bunch of work but it is rust free and I don’t mean like no holes I mean like the frame is still factory in appearance. It has lights and codes galore in true rover fashion. It also blew an air bag while waiting to be loaded on my trailer for the ride home.

So yesterday I rolled out early to handle a couple things at work and to stop and pick up the trailer

So I turned the Ex south, set the cruise and headed on to Hinesville, GA to meet my new rolling project. The Excursion really is a sweet tow vehicle, comfortable, roomy, stable and plenty of power from the big old lumbering V10 under the hood.

I arrived at Jim’s a fellow Land Rover guy with a cool old Disco and got to see my new to me LR3

We chatted a bit while it idled and I gave it a quick glance around. Some things were better than I hoped for some were a little rougher. In the end his price was extremely reasonable so I paid the entry price for another Rover to torment me and loaded it up.

I then turned the Excursion north and headed back to Augusta. Dropped it off next to its big brother and went home to relax after a long day of running around. Figured I would plug in the GAP and give it a good look over the next day.

Okay, l believe it's time for a Dr Phil intervention...lol.

Funny, my wife and l were out for a ride in the defender one evening, lowandbehold, we drive past a place that has two old series and RRC sitting in the yard. She says...we should stop in and see what they're up too with them. They looked to have been sitting for quite a while. My responses was...no.

Good luck, with the new project. Build or bringing her back to her former self?

Brian.

@ArmyRover Well I was thinking more like a slow motion crash But all seriousness we had 3 Lr3's out on our last trip and they handled things well.

@Richard Gallant yup I have been bouncing a Lr3 down the trail for the last couple years and love it. They really are a solid platform.

HD Package?

I like my LR3, but for some reason I just can not love it the way I love my D1/D2’s. LR3’s do look excellent vs the new Discovery though!!

Congrats on the new to you LR sir!!

I wish but I don't believe so. The drive train screen doesn't show it unfortunately.

I dig the LR3 they are really good trucks.

Oh darn it!

The one thing I waited and waited for was an HSE with the HD Package. I had honestly given up and when my 06 HSE LR3 in Tonga Green popped up the first thing I asked was if it had the HD Package. The lot that had it swore up and down it didn't. I stopped by to verify it and without letting them know it did indeed have the HD Package. The only option it doesn't have is the cooler in the center console which is kinda weird since it has every single other option. The 4.4L V8 is probably the best engine LR ever has slapped into one of their vehicles period! It's a very capable vehicle and I'd love to modify mine a bit more for off road, but it's the wife's D/D so I'm keeping it 100% stock for now. I've got the G4 style OEM roof rack in my shop just waiting for it.
