Congrats Tom! Thats a great story now with a happy ending.
I know how you feel to have you old ride back in your hands.
I am just waiting for the right time to get my ol 67 Chevy truck back on the road again.

Well my brother has an apparent strong dislike for my hub caps so he conspired with my wife and had her buy me a set of 14" Pontiac rally 2 , with beauty rings and center caps ( need to get a pic)

And more good news, guy called and said he found the factory air cleaner, 2 bbl intake and Carb, points distributor, auto shifter with console plates, and the plastic insert for the stick console plate

I hope he finds the rest of the car lol

Well we have tunes again sort of, found a working 2 shaft cheapo aftermarket radio, it fits and works, wired a speaker and voala sound , now just need to sort out the speakers

Also ditched the cheap tach on column and made the hood tach harness, lites up but no worky , seems they only work with points so guess I am dropping in the original dist.

Installed electric choke kit on the edelbrock carb

Progress, sold some stuff for money to spend on car
Just installed Jegs 2.5" header true dual exhaust , super nice all mandrel bent
Went with 1 chamber fake flowmasters , the sound is awesome, loud , rev it sounds like a beast roaring , no wimpy 5.0 mustang sound I love it!!!

Also got a door mirror , shifter console part, nova overflow bottle and washer bottle, plus some smalls I was missing

Also ran the numbers on an engine a coworker gave me 20 years ago, came back as 1968 400 Pontiac from a gto 350 horse , with the big heads and big factory valves , major score for free

Looks good Tom, dig the xhaust & finned covers! Chrome is soo cheesy anymore as far as 'quality' goes, it's just a word. Aluminum can always be revived, I'm a fan. Looking good!

Yeah I now have 3 sets of chrome valve covers I am not using lol, I hate engine chrome, oil leaks, rust, peeling scratched cracked chrome, just looks bad, not much choice on the air cleaner to get the look
Guess I am stuck with chrome breathers too
I'll post another engine shot once its cleaned up

Very very happy with exhaust and single stage mufflers , stuff has become so cheap I wanted all this 20 years ago but could never afford it
