today we decided to pull the console and remove the cdl shifter, what a fraking nightmare the console has been out and broke everywhere before so guess I will look for another in the jy next trip

we removed the cdl shift to find that even though it would go high low the cast ring that bolts to the shifter was seized to the h/l linkage

the cdl shifter was completely seized up on the left side like I have seen mentioned before, complete disassembly with help of a lead hammer

cleaned all rust and corrosion and lubed with red grease, I don't see where any amount of lube would have got this loose

the grease that was in there was brown and still good too bad it had all settled on top of the trans which is no help to the shifter

this nightmare took at least 3 hours, I hope it does not ever need to be done again

correction the nightmare took closer to 5 hours since we snapped off the bolt in the cast ring h/l linkage had to drill and heat and luckily it came out

now the cdl moves super easy left right like 2 fingers easy and the lite comes on, the h/l was all cleaned and lubed but is still a little stickey

thanks, work in progress, to bad it is a rust bucket, we did test out the cdl tonight for a few minutes off road climbed over some dirt mounds and it works very well since I am sure I would have been stuck cause we bottomed out on the factory running boards

so guess in the end it was worth the agrivation, now just wishing we had got the 2" lift

That's what I plan to do, I was thinking of getting some of the polly spring inserts to raise it an inch for now but it seems most people say don't do it.

I want one of those front brush guards also. (and a winch )

What was wrong with the door lock? I have to use the key to open the door. The automatic unlocker doesn't unlatch it all the way.

there is a little spring in the latch assembly that goes bad that assists the actuator. springs are left right specific and tiny small

here they are on ebay Land Rover Discovery Door Lock Repair Spring 5 Door Set | eBay

I did the cargo door. It was EXTREMELY hard to get to. Works perfectly now though.
