NDH Cinema - LR3 Project
Hey everyone,
Longtime lurker, first time posting. Excited to join the community!
I was going to post in the intro section, but with all the updates I'm planning I figured a project thread was more appropriate.
I've owned my 2007 LR3 V8 SE in Java Black for about 9 months now. Bought her in South Carolina while on a job and drove it back to Brooklyn in a straight shot. 82,000 miles, 3 owners, completely stock, totally free of rust (as fas as I can tell), and had never been off road upon purchase. It also spent the 3 years prior to me purchasing it parked and under a car cover. All in all, I think I found myself a gem.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Looking forward to contributing here, and nice to meet you all!
Little bit about myself outside the Rover...I'm originally from New Jersey, and currently reside in Brooklyn. I work as a freelance Director of Photography, and run a small production company by the name of NDH Cinema that has me traveling most of the year. Purchasing the LR3 was both a work and pleasure thing, and it's working out great so far. Plenty of room with the addition of the roof rack for all my film equipment, and I was even able to rig a 3-axis gimbal mount for stabilized driving shots out the rear hatch. I got her on the trail a handful of times this past summer around the Delaware Water Gap and up in the Adirondacks. My brother, myself, and a bunch of friends rent a house up in Vermont for the winter. We spend snowboarding season in the Green Mountains, so she's getting put through her paces (VT is where the compressor failed and thermo started sticking).

So far, here's what I've done for preventative maintenance:
- Tranny service.
- Power steering flush.
- Front, rear, and transfer case fluid changes.
- Lower Control Arms with PolyBush and new ball joints.
- Plugs.
- Fuel injector clean.
- Belts.
- Some other stuff I'm forgetting...
-------------------------------------------------------------
And my aftermarket modification list up to this point:
And my aftermarket modification list up to this point:
- Gap IID BT Tool
- Baja Rack's standard rack.
- Proud Rhino sliders.
- Tactical Rovers skid plates.
- Frontrunner ladder.
- Black Discovery 3 badges.
- Discovery 3 mesh intake cover.
- Mantec rear luggage rack (with fire extinguisher mount).
- Syder LED taillights.
- PIAA 2700K fogs.
- Grabber AT2 rubber (full size spare).
- Stoptech cross drilled rotors.
Stuff that's failed/broken so far:
- Ball joints and LCA bushings: shot when I bought it.
- Thermostat was sticking in cold weather.
- Compressor failed in sub-zero temps:
- Was receiving an intermittent non-critical suspension fault during the summer and fall: Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery.
- From reading up here I determined it was most likely an issue with the dryer, and I was hoping it would last till the spring.
- My non-professional theory: there was excess moisture in the unit do to the dryer issue, and the sub-zero temps froze everything solid and finished the thing off.
- Rat chewed through my knock sensor wires: rewired, so far all good.
- Replaced leaking front valve block to fix overnight suspension sag.
- Sunroof and windshield were leaking like sieve's:
- Windshield was leaking through the heated windscreen ribbon connectors beneath interior a-pillar trim.
- Sunroof is still an issue: sealed up for the winter, I'll fix it come spring.
- Heater is not blowing as hard or hot as it should: currently troubleshooting.
Looking forward to contributing here, and nice to meet you all!

A few shots of the Mantec Rear Luggage Rack and extinguisher:
- Had some issues with it rattling loose when I first installed it.
- Locktite solved that problem per usual.
- But anytime some cargo is really pushing up against it it loosens up a bit and starts to rattle.
- Drilled my own holes for the Drake Mount:
- Great quick release. Works perfect.
- Had to add some gorilla tape here and there to silence a few rattles.
- COB LED mounted to rear window for some extra working light.

If you don't use the third row of seats, I'd recommend it. And even if you do, the basket comes right off with thumb screws.
Been keeping recovery gear and an air compressor strapped to it for easy access.
Thanks, man! Most of the photos in my first post are just iPhone 7, with a few Canon 5D mark iii shots.
Drone is a Mavic Pro for what you see so far. And these last 3 were taken with a Sony A7s ii. All shot on L Glass.
