On the 4 wire connector at the RH tail light the Green/Brown wire is the main signal wire for the reverse bulb.

It’s been a while since I did the reverse lights on my Kalahari. They only draw 1amp so I tapped into the Green/Brown & then just grounded the black wire from the LED light. No need to run a relay for them.

In other news, played around with the stupid CD changer today. Hasn't worked since i've had MagPie, but i figured i'd try and get it to do something. I started off with unplugging it and then plugging it back in again and it.. WORKED. The sweet sweet sounds of old school Sublime funneled through the system for about 10 seconds and then the radio came on. Tried another disc and same thing, just kept getting about 10 seconds of a song and then it would revert to the radio. Sooo.. I gave up, because i don't care enough to really figure out what is wrong.

I'm planning on swapping out the HU for a non-CD / BT dealio which is a cheaper option than the GROM unit so.. Yeah.

Lights should be here by friday. Woooo

Went junk'in today and got a few things. Been having problems lately with my brand new expansion tank cap (wouldnt screw on right or stay tight) so found a "new" cap, purge valve and the hood insulator -- all for $25. Engine bay looks a lot cleaner now and my P0441 code went away for now..

Ok so this grey plug is what the OEM trailer wiring is supposed to plug into, right? What is installed now is a spliced in "kit"? The plug under the bumper is a flat, single row of 4 pins which i think is the old style of wiring if i'm not mistaken. The green/brown wire you speak of is on the actual plug on the back of the tail light?

Lights should be here tomorrow!

Yes tap into the Green/Brown that is connected to the actual tail light = reverse light trigger. You need to find the Green/Brrown from the vehicle side as they have modified the Greeen/Brown at the actual plug if the reverse acts as a turn signal now.

I’ve seen far worse aux trailer wiring jobs. You should be able to remove the blue splices and just wrap each wire with tape to cover the spot where it’s bare. 4 wire flat plugs are the most common adapter now days.

Cool. Yeah, while i have some notion of towing something at some point it probably won't be anytime soon. Just gotta take out the harness for now and keep it for later or get the AB one which actually plugs in to that grey plug.

I don't know why i'm excited for reverse lights

It was nice once I added my aux reverse lights to my Kalahari. It has really dark rear tint and backing up at night was tricky especially off road!!!!
