1977 Land Rover Santana 88 Especial
Hi Everyone,
I'm new here and a new Classic Land Rover owner! I just purchased a 1977 Land Rover Santana Defender 88 Especial ( Series III).
I have a question regarding Santanas and their value. It appears Santanas go for a lot less than a Series or Defender built in England. As far as I've read, the Santanas are built from kits via the Solihull factory in England and are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.
Why is there this value difference? And is one car built better than the other?
Thanks!
CG

Quality wise I would guess about the same for Santana vs Series III. Defenders are worlds ahead being coil sprung, bettery trans, better motors, etc. Value difference is because one is a real Land Rover and one is not, they even look slightly different.
Santanas will never be defender money. Good cheap version of series yes.
