Hi friends, first post here. (Often searching for tips, but never posted due to ultra slow net speed in my country)

I have a '92 110, with the 2.5l. petrol engine. It was a mess when I got it. The previous owner put a tiny FordMo.Co. carburetor on it, and it is definitely not going to work. I'm looking to replace it.

What do you recommend as a replacement? I'm hoping it is something I can find while I'm on holiday in the States. Any suggestions?

If your carb looks like this it's the stock item. The 2.5 petrol was never particularly powerful and even if you whack a big carb on there, meddle with the head a bit and change the cam profile I suspect "dissapointing" is going to be the way you'll describe it

 

Thanks. The guide is for the 2.5l engine '86-'90 with a Weber 32/34 dmtl carb. I think that will work.

I don't expect a lot more power, but I'm hoping for an even distribution over the bulk of the engine speed. Also for maintenance purposes, I don't care what the power output is as long as I get the appropriate fuel-air mixture into the cylinders.

No worries... where are you in the World? Only a mate of mine is about to remove a 2.25 Petrol from a 90 to put a Tdi in. It's the same carb on that and he might be prepared to part with it if you're local
