Default 35" tires on a D110? Why not?

Someone convince me not to put 35" tires on my '85 D110 300tdi. Its time to replace my tires, and I figure I might as well go bigger than the 235/85-16's already on it because it would probably do better in the soft sand at the beaches near I live with 315's. Not to mention it would look much more badass. There are plenty of American pick-ups rolling around here dwarfing my Defender, and Im tired of it. Im going to go ahead and do it unless someone who knows more about this stuff can convince me why it would be a dumb idea. Plus, if there are any more modifications that would be absolutely ESSENTIAL to go along with the tire upsizing, please feel free to chime in with those. Thanks.

with tires that are 3.5" bigger you are going to have to make all sorts of adjustments or you will have steering issues and flex issues.
