Why? Because "the Americans" want it. He's not saying they want Jeep JK's or Mexican-made RZR's. No. Americans want Bentley SUV's. Those are the only customers in America that have Bentley or Land Rover's attention. That is all they hear. If you want a Land Rover JK-alternative thing, talk to Mexico.

His English is a little hard to hear, but he says in America there are 11 million people having 1 million cash to spend immediately. "It's all about relevance." He's referring to Bentley's relevance, but he could just as easily be referring to the customer's relevance. Not one of the 11 million? Not relevant.

That's Bentley, but Land Rover Jaguar isn't different. They're not Volkswagen, Ford or Toyota. Bentley entering the SUV market is going to put the hurt on high-end Range Rover sales (Overfinch, H&H, Autobiography etc.). If the royals show a preference for the Bentley, Range Rover will take a huge hit in "relevance."

 

I don't think the royals will go with a Bentley SUV, unless they dump the marque as British Royal Warrant holder...

Also, I highly doubt the Bentley SUV would be as capable as the Range Rover if it ever comes out...
