Default Defender Crash Test Info ???

Does anyone have any crash test video's on the Defender 90 /110's, i keep hearing people say they are not safe , and failed regulations.( that varies according to country ) i have one now ( had 2 ) and i prefer drive it any day over the other brands ....

PS - i just want to see for curiosity ... not giving it up for the world....( well maybe a 2014 range rover sport ...

There have been no crash tests done on Defender as it has been exempt (in Europe at least- don't know about elsewhere).

There are a number of safety concerns, including lack of air bags, lack of crumple zone (which can cause severe damage to other vehicles) and poor side impact protection.

I have a Bandit trans am. It's a super blast to drive, looks badass and turns heads. With T-tops the whole car flexes and creaks going into businesses and gas station driveways. It's amazing they even made these cars. There is NO WAY it would ever come close to passing any crash tests. Any classic car is way less safe than new cars (Youtube 1959 Impala crash test for an eye-opener). I worry about safety too, and practice defensive driving a ALL times. Just about any car built before 2000 is not as safe as new cars. Driving is inherently dangerous. I stick to what I feel are safer, rural, roads and during daylight hours. I don't drive any of my 'classics' for commuting or city driving. The same driving my Disco too. Driving these older vehicles is extremely satisfying and is almost like a session of therapy each trip. The Defender is no different.

It's a matter of weighing the risks. Even if you were to get into an accident, there are a wide variety of types of accidents at different speeds from different angles. Unless you bought a nearly brand new vehicle with side impact airbags, anything else is going to have just front airbags. Therefore, how many accidents of the type where the front airbag would make a difference would you be involved with vs all the other types of accidents like side, rear, or angled accidents? I don't have an answer to that question but I bet there are statistics out there. I'm guessing they'd be relatively small. Still, it only takes once. I make sure my wife/kids drive vehicles with front/side impact airbags and as best safety as we can afford, but not at the expense of continually reinforcing defensive driving into their skulls and not texting/talking/drinking while driving.

Probably a weak answer, but that's a certain perspective.. A Discovery at least has front impact airbags, if that helps, save the Defender for the weekends.. Hopefully in a few years they'll come out with a 'retro' Defender with more safety features sort of like Toyota came out with the FJ.

I like your post-script BTW!!
