Drive problem with 110 (complete noob!)

Just picked up a 1994 Defender 110 - now find that it will only drive in Diff Lock mode. If I put it in High or Low it's almost like it's in neutral... any ideas what this could be????

could be a broken cv, axle, or differential

Start you truck, put it in gear while not locked up, look under the truck and see which drive shaft is turning. The one that is turning is the one that is going to the diff with the problem.
