Default Help Identifing this Land Rover

Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and I am looking to buy an older Land Rover. I found one online and it is listed as a 1984 defender series 3. It's listed as a short version with an engine capacity between 2001 – 2500 cm3 and hp between 50-75. I have included the link for it. Can anyone help me identify it and possible give me some more information about it. Thank you.

1984 Land Rover Defender Series III 8.399 TL Sahibinden sat

I can't see the picture but the Series III is not a Defender. It is a Series III, nothing more, nothing less. There are two models both based on wheel base. The short version is called an 88, while the long wheel base version was the 109. They came with a 2.25l 4cyl typically. There were many variants in these configurations based on their intended use, such as an ambulance, fire truck, etc. in addition to a basic utility vehicle. They share many parts with the Series II and IIa. I have the IIa in both the 109 and 88 version. They are fun and easy to work on. I will warn you, they are far from fast, and drum brakes can be poor, but the Series III has better braking than mine. There are disk upgrades, etc. for these. 1985 if I remember correctly was the last year of the Series III and the third year of the 90 and 110 (also named on wheel base) but now badged as the Defender rather than a Series. Hope this helps.
