I like the first one and he third one.
I dont know what the conversion to Canadian dollars is but you can double the asking price for USD.

Pretty much

The one I like is the Sheffield one. buying and importing it should cost me about 5500$ CND.

Bump!

....

Nah just kidding, this isn't a bump it's an update

My hunt isn't over, I've finally gotten enough time to go down to Land Rover Laval and have a chat with someone in the know, Mr. Steve Guntrip (1 (450) 688-1880). He strongly suggested buying one that was already LHD and bringing it here. His suggestion wasn't as strong after I showed him the price difference between LHD defenders and RHD defenders in europe. That being said, although he still recommends that I buy a LHD model and then deal with the headache of importing it into Quebec, he and his team of mechanics (whom I spoke with about what kind of parts I'd be looking for) are fully equipped and ready to help me with acquiring my parts and converting a RHD model should I pick one up from the UK. Thanks guys, but I'll be doing most of the work myself; paying $115 for 20hrs of work kinda goes against my "cheapest way possible" goal for this project.

Mr. Guntrip also pulled up the list of importable vehicles, and my Defender 90 falls nicely into this category:

All vehicles (except buses) FIFTEEN (15) YEARS OLD OR OLDER

All are admissible (see notes)

Importer must be able to prove vehicle is fifteen (15) years old or older, determined by month and year of manufacture.

Basically my Defender can't be younger than a 1995, which is perfect!

My next step will be to call this fellow in St. Lazare and speak with him about how to get a Defender across the sea, and what I should be expecting to pay.

I've found a neatly compiled list of required pieces and their aprox. cost, along with links to suplliers:

So if he got it all for is $1071, I'm looking at about $1300 - $1500

That's factored into my price now. I need to be able to bring the defender here for under $2500 and be ready to do most of, if not all of the work on my own.

Defender: $2500
Pieces: $1500
Import: >$2500

That will keep me under my $6500 limit.

Of course, if I sell the jeep for $5000, Buy the defender for $3000 and import it to Ontario for >$2000, I have a good bit of time to collect the pieces and learn the conversion process inside out.

Ahhhh more news later!

A quick quote from an inquiry yesterday put my import costs at $1,546. This was a bit steep, so I called up Mr. Guntrip from the dealership to see if he knew who Land Rover uses to bring their vehicles over, he didn't - but he DID have a friend who was an import broker who he thought might be able to help me. If it turns out the man is helpful, I'll post his number in my next update!

Default Old Mil Version

Hi Davem
lots of places to pick up a surplus Mil version even LHD all depends on how much you want to pay !!

Seen them in really good Nick as most of the Ex Mil stuff is
but you could be paying for a Series 3 109 any from £3,750 to £5,000

But the way the pound is now compared to the Can$ it's a pretty good
buy...

have fun
