UJ and prop problem please help me.
about a year ago my front uj (gearbox end)went on my proshaft and has i had`nt owned it long i put it doewn to lack of maintenance...WEll since then i`ve had it lifted by 2inches and thats all...At the weekend the uj went again is this because i`ve lifted it or what????? how can i solve the problem and is there any other reason its eaten a uj in 12months???? please help.
Lifting the car by 2 inches will put extra strain on the UJ as it's operating at a different angle than stock - doubtful it would go in just 12 months though unless your previous replacement was a dodgy pattern part.
More likely it's a servicing issue... if your truck goes near mud or water while off road, grease the UJ's and the sliding joint on the prop when you get home and it'll last a heck of a lot longer.
Hardy Spicer UJ componenents are pretty good

I've heard people with the same problem, the prop was extented a bit with a prop spacer fitted and there problem was sorted. I did google on these spacers and there like a big washer with the matching prop holes in, seems like an easy fix to me.
As well as good servicing and you won't go wrong.

Read the propshaft rebuild sticky in the D1 or D2 tech section. It also covers proper lubrication. My experience has been that many people, including professional mechanics, don't know the correct way to lube one.
