US sales of D-90

Default US sales of D-90
I have always wondered why the sale of the d90 stopped in the US? I have heard several different reasons, can anybody tell me why? also why does no body import the new ones. I would think that a private dealer or someone like that would importsome or is it just not worth it?. Any help would be much appreciated.

They don't meet EPA and DOT saftey standards and were baqnned.
